Same here. The GH games do look uglier but I dont care about that very much. I want to play the game, not look at the case 24/7. I mean if I have a choice between a gh and non greatest hits edition I will of course pick the original printing, but often times online you don't know what you will get until it shows up.

Oh man! That box takes the ugly cake.
My Shadow of the Colossus was a red-striper because it was on clearance for $13 when I got it from Target in '07, otherwise I'm one of those compulsive "avoide conflicting packaging if possible" types, having successfully nabbed non-GH versions of Kingdom Hearts, RE:CVX and Okami several years after their releases.

Yeah and sometimes you get glitchers, like Gran Turismo 2. The better version is the Greatest Hits release so there isn't much debate there. For a collection you'd probably want both original and GH anyway but as a player, it's GH or bust.
    Whaddya mean invalid parameters?!

9,000 gigs of ram and it still can't answer a simple question!

the goty edition (greatest hits) of elder scrolls IV: morrowind has a bug that the normal edition doesn't have. When you turn into a vampire you can't return back to your human form, so when that happens you can only quest at night. So the greatest hits edition isn't always a better one lol

I spent 30 hours or so of game time as one and was able to go outside in daytime. You feed on people sleeping, which makes it safe for several days at a time to go outside in the sunlight without taking damage.

So as long as every couple hours or so when you're in a village or city area at night that you take advantage of the opportunity to have a quick meal, you're not likely to ever get stuck outside quickly taking damage until you die. I only encountered it a handful of times.

Last time i played it was like 1.5 years ago and you could find problems curing the vampire state on lots of forums. It only happened when you had the goty edition the bug wasn't in the normal edition + shivering isles. Maybe they finally put an update out?

If you buy Devil May Cry: 5th Anniversary Collection, you get DMC3 SE in the black case for that set, just a FYI if you want to track it down.

I did this since I previously sold DMC2. Worked out since I got the black label version of DMC3SE and another copy of DMC2. The only differences from the original versions is that they're the not for resale versions. So I just gave my DMC3SE GH and DMC original to my brother and kept the 5th Anniversary Collection the way it came.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

From what he's saying (Although he also called it Morrowind so perhaps I shouldn't be taking him too literally ), it's the PS3 release. He referenced Sony's Greatest Hit's line and didn't say Platinum Hits, which would be Microsoft's version of the program.

I wonder though if he just wasn't doing something correctly to cure himself (After all, he was unaware he could even still go outside as a vampire, and the cure quest is rather long and complicated). Is there a chance you made a mistake, or is this really a known problem with the GOTY Greatest Hit's release of Oblivion on the PS3?

I'm having trouble seeing why the Greatest Hits release of Oblivion would be any different than a fully patched original with the appropriate expansion packs like Shivering Isles installed that came on the Greatest Hit's disc. It seems like it should be identical, unlike something like a PSOne or PS2 Greatest Hit's release.

    Did i say morrowind? oops

I thought it was only the ps3 goty edition but it seems every edition has this problem but the greatest hits version has the highest chance. There's even a faq dedicated to it and you can find alot of results on google if you type oblivion vampire cure glitch.

This is how I now feel about them. I'd still much rather have the original versions and have been doing this since the PS1 days. But if the GH version is only $10 new then I will gladly pick it up. Hell, half of my PS3 games are already GH versions(GOW Collection, Infamous and Killzone 2) but thats because they were all only $10 new during black friday deals. And I'll definitely pick up a GH version if it has extra content, like the already mentioned VF4.

Hey guys, there's an easy solution. If you really hate the red label, but it's the cheapest one you can find, get it and print off the regular cover from somewhere. I use cdcovers.cc to find them, but I'm sure there's other sites.

Hate them. Hate hate hate. I like them to be nice and uniform. It's easy for me to pass them up anyways, seeing as they had to sell X number of copies just to get to GH, so I know they're be plenty more out there that aren't GH. The only 2 I own (Like many) are DMC3 and VF4.

I did however break down and order 2 Platinum Hits for 360, as they were imports and the regular versions sell for $90. At $35 each, I was willing to cave...

Get it? Cave? (Bought 2 Cave Shooters). <_<
