    Default Progressive scan woes

I recently got a used CRT TV from Goodwill, and it has component video inputs. That should mean it can run in 480p, right? Well, when I try to run Gamecube stuff in progressive scan, it shows a double image, like playing split-screen multiplayer.

What's going on here? Is there a point to this TV having component video input if it can't display things in progressive scan? Or is this something I can fix?

The TV model is JVC AV-32260.

That's about right for an SDTV. Only EDTVs would support progressive scan. Component is higher quality than s-video, so I guess that's why they put it on. I've had a few CRTs with component input but didn't support progressive scan.

A component connection doesn't mean it supports 480p. The vast majority of standard definition CRT's sold during the 2000's have included component connections. Even economy models in the 13" range often included component connections over the last few years of SD CRT production. It gives a boost in signal quality over S-Video for the same reasons something like S-Video is a boost over composite, why composite is an improvement over RF, etc.

I notice a decent boost in video quality using component when available on my standard definition CRT over S-Video. That's why it's there.

Yeah, the picture on it with Component is definitely better than S-Video. It is actually pretty good on some games because it shows the highest quality video while still remaining interlaced. GB(C/A) games look horrible in progressive scan. It also prevents small text from becoming too flickery.

Anyways, thanks for the help guys. A tad bit disappointing, but still a good TV.
