One of the things that used to annoy me and still does is how games fit to the size of the tv screen. So the bigger the tv is the bigger the sprites, backround, etc everything is proportionally the same. Why have they not come up with a way to adjust your peripheral vision in the game, in other words the bigger the tv screen the more enviorment you can see around you. I understand that the older consoles probbaly couldn't pull this off, but with the consoles and tv's we have today I would think they could do that.

Why give a person who has a larger TV an unfair advantage, especially in a multiplayer title?

Things are fine as they are, I think.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

Like extra wide letterbox widescreen? I think it's cool how it is now. Plus some manufacturers, mainly Sony would unfairly use this to their advantage. Possibly making certain games or systems look and play better on Sony televisions.

PC games do this all the time. I even remember games like Sacrifice did this really well.

It's true... PC games do this. Play The Sims in 800x600, and then in 1024x768. Wider vision in 1024x768.

I think that's just asking too much. Many games can't even get fullscreen support these days.

People usually decide on the size of their screen by balancing their budget and the distance from the screen that they're going to be viewing from.

Someone with a 40" widescreen tv is likely going to be sitting a good bit further back than someone watching a 24" tv, so I don't think it's a good idea at all.

One TV might be bigger than another, but in many cases, they're the same exact resolution...therefore, leatherrebel5150's idea is physically impossible.

    This.

Also Console Graphics cards are the equivalent of an nVidia 7800 256MB card.

Desktop Graphics cards are about 12 times more powerful now than consoles are with Hex-Core CPUs GTX 590 GPUs etc...

If they did it, your framerate would drop rapidly.
