Default Missed opportunities in movie based games?

Not meaning this as what a developer could have did to make a movie based game better, etc. But what movies do you guys think should have got the video game treatment and may have actually sold well, complimenting the movie.

For me, and while it already got a video game release, Rambo First Blood Part 2. Rambo 4 was released in 2008, and Uncharted was released before that in 2007. The NES game is called Rambo, rather than First Blood Part 2, so to coincide with the release of the movie, and have the same name, they could have just called it Rambo. Kind of like the most recent 007 game based off a movie being called Quantum of Solace but it's actually Casino Royale.

The reason I mentioned Uncharted is that if you were to take the Uncharted game engine, and throw the storyline, areas, etc, of Rambo 2 in there, you would have a full game. Not only that but it'd probably be the most badass shooter ever. There wouldn't have to be any artificial lengthening of the game either. The reason Rambo 2 is only two hours, is because it cuts to Rambo, then cuts back to 20 enemies falling on the ground in mere seconds. Or the small parts where they're going through this area to get here or running through the enemies here. They really wouldn't have to deviate from the movie much, if at all, and probably still make an eight hour game.

Then they could have online too. Choose between different character skins like John Rambo, Colonel Samuel Trautman, Murdock, Co, Erickson, the one other guy who says don't be a hero to Trautman when they're out to rescue Rambo but turn around, the Russians, the one Korean guy who gets blown up by an explosive arrow after he turns around to shoot Rambo with a pistol but misses because he sucks, special guest character from First Blood Will Teasle, etc, etc. The online probably would be dead in a month, but they should still add it.

Why would we need this game?

I'm just saying as most movie based titles are thrown out there just to get sales for the movie. Are there any missed opportunities of movie titles that could possibly generate somewhat good games.

I think you totally undercut your point by using Rambo as an example, however.

I always thought an arcade shooting game based around the band Aerosmith would of been a sound business decision.

Or a flight sim based on The Buddy Holly movie! Patsy Cline expansion pack can be DLC.

I'm genuinely disappointed there was never a Batman game based on Adam West.

Super Mario Bros The Movie: The Game. If they could do it with Street Fighter The Movie why not with Mario? I'd imagine it as a FMV game for the CDi.

I was discussing that with a friend recently. A game based on the classic Batman TV show would be awesome. I like the new "darker" Batman games but what I wouldn't give for the Cesar Romero version of the Joker as the main villain of a game complete with his ridiculous traps and diabolical plans

It's never too late for a movie based game, I mean Scarface was made way after the movie was released and ended up being pretty damn good.

And The Warriors on PS2 / XBox.

And Reservoir Dogs (though if the PC version is any indication, this should have NEVER BEEN MADE.)

Actually the game called Quantum of Solace is based on the Quantum of Solace movie and follows the plot of that movie from start to finish with several side quest/missions thrown in for good measure. The reason why you play Casino Royale flashback missions is because Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel to that movie(as opposed to being another stand alone story like the majority of all Bond movies) and it served to advance the plot by showing Bond's motivation for his current mission to go after the Quantum Group.

I've always wanted to play a game based on the Underworld series. There was one in development for the Xbox but it got canceled midway thru. It looked like it was going to be a hybrid run and gun/hack and slash game. I wouldn't have minded that since it's also how the Blood Rayne games played and I enjoyed them. But I'm sure they could have done alot more for that game then to just make it a simple Blood Rayne clone.

A series of Hitchhiker's Guide point-and-clicks by Telltale would be nice.

We already have the Infocom version... It's even available for free from BBC's website in flash form.

No offense to Telltale, but I just don't think they're up to the task anymore.

Pretty much every movie-based game ever could have been better. One that sticks out as a gem in the movie genre is certainly Goldeneye on N64.
