Default Word of Caution to anyone purchasing Atomiswave games on ebay

There are some high quality boots that have been making the rounds lately. They are available on sites like alibaba.com for $40.00 shipped and look just like the originals.

They are however, missing the security stripes found on *some* but not all originals.

These are known bootleg serials, originally posted over at n-g.com.

So, if you see Metal Slug 6 on ebay and it seems like too good a deal to be true it probably is.

The first mistake would be to buy ANY game related item on alibaba.com. Only exceptions would be clone systems or any other "unauthorized" gaming accessories. Even then, I wouldn't pay a lot to the vendors on that site. I'm sure there are many honest dealers on there but there are WAY too many con artists roaming around that site.

Several people over at the neo geo boards have bought some of the boots, no issues yet. They actually commented on how good the build quality is for a boot.

The main point of the thread though is to warn people to watch out on ebay. As several sellers are buying these boots from alibaba and passing them off as originals on ebay, charging 4x/5x the price of the boot.

I have seen many good boots over the years (along with many bad ones). I guess if a seller on Alibaba said up front that it's a boot then I would consider doing business with them. It's those that say it's real that I don't trust (even though they could be telling the truth). Alibaba officially doesn't support boots but everyone knows that it's just talk. On top of that, it might be the only way to pick up those $1000+ games
