    Default Amiga CD32

What do NTSC machines go for? PAL? I'm guessing a PAL system would be best since it has the best compatibility? I own a TV that can take 50Hz and display PAL in color, by the way. NTSC is the Canadian version, right? It wasn't released in the USA?

Wish I hadn't passed up a year or so ago when there were a bunch of CIB PAL ones shipped from an eBayer in China for like $100...

Either one goes for around $100. There's no compatibility issues that I'm aware of b/c you can set the display to PAL on the NTSC one by accessing the "secret" menu (I forget how to do it, someone on here can chime in, I think you have to plug the controller into port two and hold down some buttons, but don't remember which).

I don't believe there are any compatibility issues as far as games only working on one version of the console. If you live in NTSC land, it would be better to get an NTSC console. You probably don't have a TV that can accept a PAL signal.

To switch you have to plug in a mouse and hit both mouse buttons at startup. Note that it doesn't actually change what type of video signal the console outputs.

Hard to say on the value, but now that the new old stock has dried up, I'm sure the PAL ones are worth significantly less.

Actually, there are significant compatibility issues. Some games won't work at all on an NTSC system even with the mode switch. The site Papastu referenced has great info on what works with what. Having said that, I have both and I think you would be ok with just the NTSC version and a good monitor. NTSC systems are worth more with complete systems typically going for almost 50% more than PAL versions recently.

Like I said, I have a TV that takes both PAL and NTSC, so I could use either one. The only thing if I get a PAL machine is that I'll have to use a step-up converter. The switch between two modes only affects the software compatibility and not video modes.

I wish I had picked up one of the Chinese warehouse stock back when they were all over eBay... bummer.
