Default Looking to have Castlevania 3 support restored on my NES-to-Famicom adapter

Hey, I've got a possibly very easy project here. See the 72-60 pin converter I picked up is incompatible with Castlevania 3 (has opening glitches then locks up before gameplay starts). And it's a known issue common to some adapter models. Any takers for looking into methods of fixing this? BTW yes, I mean NES to Famicom here. Not the more often discussed opposite.

Besides these IIRC also need modding anyway to get expansion audio from an NES powerpak? Then either way I'd want work done. So when I order the powerpak it'll be ready.

Maybe this info will help. Certainly looks like the type I have.

Interesting. I have three different 72-60 pin converters and one of them does indeed work with Castlevania 3 and Fester's Quest (another problem game).

I may want to try and mod one of my Yobo adapters. I just opened it and found that there are 3 sets of pins (6 technically) on the NES part not connected to anything on the Famicom part.

Easily done, but even if I did it for you I don't have a Famicom to test the end result on let alone Castlevania.

But if the information on that page is correct an entire address line for the CHR chip is disabled. Checked the NesCartDB and apparently Castlevania 3 is only one of a very small amount of American games that use MMC5 which would explain why this wasn't a big deal.

I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

Well as for other mods I could use, brush up on SMS2 info. Mine is due for an upgrade sometime. Deserves better than its PAL RF.

The last I heard, there was no mod yet to get the Powerpak to play expansion audio when playing on a Famicom.

Could be. At least it's more likely to happen than NES top loader in any case. I might want to get a deal on the game's JPN version and find out what that'll do.

S-Video is easy to install if you know which end of the soldering iron to hold. I ended up modding both of my NTSC-U SMSes for S-Video and truth be told it looks amazing on my Dell 2405FPW even when upscaled.

The connectors I used fit flush in the hole where the RF connector used to reside. For kicks I added a PAL/NTSC switch even though I have absolutely no use for it but hey there was a hole for a switch right there.

Oh, no can do! I had to send in an N64 for reassembly... Which itself also could also still use the video quality upgrade someday, I didn't get it done while being put back together.

Guess I never really felt that same love for s-video. Though given my large LCD lacks RF input (no joke) anything is better in its case. Haha.
