Are you going to buy a PlayStation Vita at launch?

Man, the $249.99 price really caught me by surprise. I'm not really interested in the 3G version, cause I'm not interested in having a contract with AT & T. I can live with Wi-Fi, and a $249.99 price is pretty amazing if you consider just how much quality tech is packed in. Everything I've heard says that the OLED screen is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and it has a pretty decent sized screen as well. You can't really go bigger than the 5 inch screen in a portable, or it's not really portable anymore. The Vita is already pushing it in terms of it's overall size.

I'm not really a portable gaming guy, but damn, this thing is really tempting me.

I have already pre-ordered one. It looks great and the Wi-Fi only price is very attractive. Plus with Uncharted coming out, its a guaranteed buy.

Same here. If the titles released for the system look akin to what the PSP had to offer, then there's no reason for me to buy a Vita.

I really wasn't all that interested until I watched some of the Kojima Productions videos. I'm definitely considering picking one up near launch.

The game that impressed me the most on it is Little Big Planet Vita version. Seriously, you guys gotta see the video on this version. I played the first LBP on PS3, and found it to just be an "ok" game. Really wasn't my cup of tea. Didn't like the floaty jumps, etc, etc. I never played LPB2 on PS3. I'm not really that into LBP at all.

Having said all of that, after seeing the game running on Sony Vita, oh my GOODNESS! This is like Kirby's Canvas Curse on DS. This game justifies everything the Vita can do. Watch the video of it, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.


The other game I want at launch is NBA 2K12. I think sports games on portables are cool, cause you can just play a season on it, and just jump into the game whenever you have a spare opportunity. Also, I think a game like NBA 2K12 could look so close to it's PS3 version on that screen, that it would be kinda scary. A high-end version of Madden would be cool too. I just think sports would shine on the Vita.

I'm a day one here, I really just hope that Sony continues to support this console unlike the semi-drop they gave the psp for a few years. I expected the device to be 50-100 more but at 250 i don't see a reason not to.

I'm actually more interested in this then any of the big names releases.

The launch lineup of games is going to be the biggest determining factor for me getting one at launch. The $249 price tag for the wifi model is pretty much what I expected the price to be.

More than likely not. I use my PSP so little, why go out and buy the upgrade right away?

However finding out that they fixed that annoying "feature" where the PSP's battery drains when it's not on would be a big move to me actually giving a shit.

Most likely not. I'll wait till they iron out the bugs and get one about 6 months to a year after it comes out. In the meantime, there's plenty of games for other systems that I want to play/acquire.

While I thought that the Vita was the best thing that Sony Showcased at E3, I probably will not shell out $250 for the unit a launch. Here is why:

1. Prices of portable games at $39.99. Rare will be the game that will be worth that price.

2. I dont really want to play portable versions of home console playstation games, espically shooters. I think that my big issue with alot of these great looking games that I saw are not quick pick up and play games...I would rather just get the PS3 version of the game and play on my 50 inch screen.

3. The PSP was a good start to the portable, but since the Vita will not play any of the games nor will it be able to play on the big screen, I will just continue to collect PSP games for now.

I will evaluate the system when there is a price drop and a decent library at used prices. Until then I am happy to wait.

Almost 10 years later, I barely remember seeing anything Vita-related. I think competition from smartphones hurt it which were really taking off at this time. i dont know what else killed the Vita. and I never played one myself

I have a Wi-Fi model pre-ordered at Amazon. With all the AAA games coming out for 360/PS3 around the same time...I don't know if I'll have time to play it. I may cancel the pre-order as that time draws nearer.

I bought a psp at launch. However I don't game portably that much. Also sony has pissed me off with this hacking thing and honestly haven't enjoyed my ps3 as much as my 360 or wii. Finally the other problem you have is as John carmack pointed out-smart phones I love mine and it can do gaming pretty well granted I have an android which could use some more games (apple seems better for games)

It's funny to me though, when PSP was announced I was thinking how futuristic it was that we had a portable with a disc drive in it. Looking back, what a frickin terrible idea.

At least this thing runs on cartridg.. er flash carts? Hopefully some improved battery life.. ???

Probably not directly at launch but wait till an anticipated title or feature is noticed as available by me. For 3DS I saw Zelda as a good enough reason after already wanting the new Bust-A-Move.
