Default SMS USA region Sonic 1 value, is it a passing fad?

Is this game really worth what Racketboy is saying in his price guide: $300-$500? I find it a little hard to believe that a sticker makes it that much more valuable over a standard import copy. Have they really sold for that much in the past? A quick search around DP got me one thread at $115.

Any member here sold one recently? Would you call this a 'bubble' or do they routinely fetch that much money?

...I see SNES Earthbound prices as a fad.

The price is accurate. It's one rare sticker.

Apparently. Just be warned. Once the seal is off, IIRC there is no way to determine an opened copy is truly original US. It's possible if unlikely an identical looking (hence impossible to identify) PAL cart could have been swapped into the box somehow.
    Lum fan.

Unless there is something on the PCB of Sonic denoting some kind of difference, all the carts are 100% the same, NTSC or PAL. Hell the inserts are 100% the same, except for the UPC sticker. That really is the ONLY difference that i'm aware of. You're buying a sticker, not a completely different cart as well.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.
