Is this a real question? If cost isn't a concern, go with the PS3. More bang for someone else's buck, and just get yourself a DSlite or PSP with your own cash eventually.
Target has been clearancing PS3 systems out lately. I recently got a 120 gig PS3 there for $249, and there are plenty of sub-$30 games out to enjoy. Personally, I'd wait on the 3DS until the software prices drop a bit.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
So either get a home based system with a much larger and more well developed library or get a handheld system that does 3D which may or may not provide some interesting experiences in the future? I guess it would really boil down to where you do the bulk of your gaming and do you have faith in the future of the 3DS?
That having been said; My 360 gets the bulk of my playtime at home simply because I prefer it. Most multiplatform games seem to woke just fine and in some cases better plus XBL is the more well developed online service. I already have a DS lite and really so far nothing has drawn me far enough to sping for the 3DS. Not trying to turn this into a 360 vs. PS3 debate at all but really I'd say that you already have a good home console and unless Blu-Ray and the PS3 exclusives tantilize you you're already covered mostly on the home console front.

Put the money on a PS Vita
i would say if you are happy with your 360 then get a handheld system..either the 3ds or wait for the vita
I would ask yourself how important online gaming with friends is to you and how important PS3's exclusive titles are to you. If either of these do matter to you the I suggest you go the PS3 route, you can play online with your now ps3 owning bud and you and enjoy all of titles that are only on the console.
I only see the justification in buying the 3DS now if you either love portable systems or are a hardcore Nintendo fan. I fall into the former category and a little of latter but even then the 3DS hasn't enticed me much to pick it up right now over waiting for both a better library and a price drop/revision. Its a great system but personally its just not at that point for me yet.
Of course there is always the third option of not picking up either and saving some cash.
Either this or the PS2.
Other than that. Are you interested in Uncharted 1, 2, and 3, Yakuza 3 and 4, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo 5, and 3D Dot Game Heroes? Or possibly(not my preference,) Killzone 2 and 3(just another FPS,) God of War 3(boring,) LittleBigPlanet(a garbage overrated platformer,) and Infamous? If none of these games interest you, then don't even bother with a PS3. These are the best exclusives on the system and you'd be wasting your money if none of these interests you. No reason to purchase a PS3 for multiconsole games when you own a 360.
If you got a 360 already, get a 3DS. PS3 got alot of the same games that the 360 got so getting a PS3 isn't a big deal. (me saying that is hard since i'm a sony fanboy)
