Default How to boot up Castlevaina for Dos?

Sorry for another how to post but I'm dying to play this version and I can't get it to boot up.

I downloaded Castlevania from several sites and none load up. I have a laptop with windows 98 and dos 7.0 on it. I saw on some site that it says it was compatible with dos 3.0 to 3.3. Will dos 7 not boot it or is there a set of commands I need to run ad the a: in dos?

    Please help

    Thanks.

Are you using a floppy image or just the raw files?

If it's just the files, running PLAY.BAT should do the trick. Although you'll either need a copy of the manual or a pre-cracked version to circumvent the copy protection. If you're using a floppy image, you'll have to mount it somehow (or copy the contents onto a blank disk) before you can run/install the game.

I don't think the version of DOS matters.

I can't get it to work like that either. I downloaded what is obviously a hacked version and copied it to floppy disk and when I put it in the A drive I tried those commands and it doesn't load.

I don't know how all of the others get it to run on those sites unless it's hacked for dos box or some other newer OS.

What exactly are you doing and what exactly is happening when "it doesn't load" ?

    Consider yourself lucky.

Seriously though, after all the trouble you're going through to get DOS Castlevania to load, you're going to be sorely disappointed when it finally does.

I actually have an original copy of this, though I managed to lose the box somehow. The game is really bad. You can use adlib for the music, but the game still uses the pc speaker for all sound effects. Movement is clunky/choppy and it really just isn't a good port.
