    Few games I think that will retain their value:
    Tales of Vesperia Premium Edition - XBOX 360
    Infinite Space - DS
    Rune Factory Frontier - Wii
    Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition - PS3

    For the DS;

    Game and Watch Collection
    Game and Watch Collection 2

    They were given away for free, anything above $0.00 is an increase in value.

    Well, sort of free. The amount of Club Nintendo points required to buy either one from the Nintendo store (800, I think), means you're still spending quite a bit on other games to earn enough points to "buy" them. Also, they are both still available.

Obviously, if you pay $50 for a game, it has to be worth more than $50 a few years from now just to keep up with inflation. Very few games in previous generations have ever maintained their value and as several of us have pointed out, regardless of Nintendo's previous stance on maintaining MSRP, it doesn't change the fact that on Amazon and at retail, most Wii games have been on sale over the past few years. Metroid Other M has repeatedly been on sale at Amazon, including during launch week. It has also been on sale at Best Buy repeatedly. MSRP may not be falling, but almost any Wii game can be found for well below MSRP easily.
    This isn't about when these games are still available (new) from retail. The topic was about titles from this generation that will hold, or increase their value over many years, or even a decade.

    I could have had a second, or third copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for $20, when Toys R Us was clearing them out, but I didn't see the need to own additional copies, because there was no such thing as Ebay at the time. The same could happen for a game like Sin and Punishment 2, if it didn't really get a huge print run.

    I believe what Kellhus was talking about, was what games could he buy today, that would be worth more years after these consoles are dead at retail.

    Yes, that's essentially what I was getting at. I didn't make the post trying to find what games I should buy as an investment or anything like that, I just thought it would be an interesting discussion.

    Well. The answer is still the same. Very few. If you were to look at prices for classic games, most of them are well below the cost that you could purchase them in store when they were new.
    Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

    Agreed. In fact, it's almost none unless you're talking about sealed games or games that are just in very, very high demand that had very limited print runs. I would also note that Nintendo just dropped MSRP of the 3DS down to $169.99. Obviously, the days of Nintendo pricing not responding to real world conditions are over and gone.

    That is, if anyone even wants them. I can't give my copy away.

    Judging from the previous pattern of somewhat low print runs and high niche demand for Fighting games like Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Power Stone, Mark of the Wolves, etc. I can see Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom on Wii holding a decent value in the future.
