    Default Famicom Price Guide

I've spent the past year compiling the prices of all 4,356 loose Famicom cart sales on Ebay. Using that data, I can now finally unveil the Famicom loose cart price guide. Every game that sold 3+ copies is included. Check it out!

Amazing piece of research there! I've always found the whole Famicom collecting 'thing' intimidating but this guide will without a doubt help me slowly getting into it, so thank you!

    That's hot.

I would make the notation that shipping is included larger as I didn't catch it on the first pass. Also make it more known that most shipping is from Japan which makes a lot of these prices seem not as bad as they are.

Still, nice job. Was surprised to see CV1 worth the most out of all. Did I miss something or is that a typo?

The cart is pretty expensive. You can find the disk version for a lot cheaper.

Any reason other than popularity? ROM differences between US/PAL/Disk?

I think it was just a late release (1993), and it's rare because of that. That and Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa were both given cart rereleases by Konami, and they're two of the most expensive Famicom games. The only difference as far as I'm aware is that they both have easy modes added.

CV did only sell 3 copies, the minimum to make the price guide, and I think all were BINs (didn't record that). Who knows what an open auction would go for.

That is fantastic. I've been getting into more Famicom collecting, and this will help alot. Do you plan to keep updating this?

I've been continuing to keep track of Famicom prices, but I'm not going to post a new price guide until another year has passed. This time I'm going to include lots as well as single game auctions, so it should be better.

Just throwing this out there since the only thing I collect is Famicom-

If you buy from Famicom World or a person direct in Japan, you will be paying at least half or even drastically less then what ePay determines. I mean shit, I just got Hebereke (Ufouria) for $9.99, that will NEVER happen again and therefore should not reflect any true value.

For Example, you have Son Son listed at $10 ebay cost. I can buy as many copies of that game I want, right now, direct from Japan, for the equivalent of $2 a piece.

Famicom games are really hard to determine a final price on -- it's interesting to me, but with few exceptions the demand for Famicom games really isn't high.

The other thing -- the eBay prices are higher because you are actually guaranteed to get something. When you go to a regular web site to buy a game, not just do you have to include shipping in your cost, but you run the real risk that the site may not be legit, and you'll never see anything. We decided to start carrying imports in the GOAT Store, and of the approximately 1000 titles we purchased, one of the vendors outside of eBay whose site no longer exists we're still waiting for the games on -- and that was placed in like October, so something tells me that there were no games for sale.

Bump. I've updated the guide for 2012, which can be found at the same link. I've included more information this time around, and I hope everyone enjoys it.

    Nice!

I was looking for something like this.

Perhaps pictures of the harder to translate titles on a future update would help the English speaking collectors.

This is a tremendous asset. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. Is there a 2013 update underway as well?

No, I won't be updating it for this year. I'm still keeping track of the most expensive sales, though.

Heres a few corrections for you-

"Only official licensed releases were included - no pirates. No Famicom disk system games either (sorry, I wasn't interested in them - besides, they're much less likely to be found loose)"

Actually the majority of FDS games sold on ebay are loose. They come in two cases, hence your confusion (Im assuming). Most people discard the outer case which also holds the manual and you just get the disk in the thinner case with the one sheet insert. No outer box or manuals are ever included in most auctions, a lot of people think that one sheet insert is the instructions. Its not.

"Finally, be aware of the Famicom Disk System and the fact that some games were released on FDS disks as well as FC carts. For example, the Konami trio of Akumajou Dracula, Bio Miracle, and Moero TwinBee were all re-released on carts way after their disk versions"

With the inclusion of Zelda No Densetsu, Those are actually the ONLY games re-released in Japan as carts. Unless you count something like VS. Excitebike (but thats technically a different game) or disk writer games (Bubble Bobble, Donkey Kong) but those will have handwritten or writer machine printed labels.

You should also mention that most of these games can be found for 30-70% less than ebay cost if bought direct from Japan or on Yahoo Japan Auctions.
