Default Consoles you always wanted but never played

OK, I realize many of you have a collection that you're satisfied with. But for the rest of us, what console tops that list? For this thread, 'never played' means the system proper; emulators don't count, peripherals that allow cross-system play doesn't count, nor does watching your dad play when you were 3. For me, it's the Astrocade. I've wanted one of those clunkers for years now, but always get out-sniped. I'm curious to see what tops other's lists.

The Astrocade is interesting. I like the built in game storage.

As for me it's the Neo Geo, any of the consoles really, and the 3DO. There's plenty of interesting games I'd like to someday try out, but haven't had the opportunity yet.

I've managed to own or at least play most of the systems I've ever wanted with a few exceptions. There's a few systems I still have yet to see in person such as the Amiga CD32 and Pippin but I've never really felt the urge to own them.

I can think of a couple of console versions that were variations to existing hardware that I wanted to play on. One immediate example that comes to mind is the PC-Engine LT. I've played games on a regular PC-Engine, TG16, Duo, and SuperGrafx; but the LT was the crown jewel to me for a time.

I'm not sure if it counts as a console, but I always wanted to try out and tinker with a Net Yaroze system. I regret not being more adamant in getting one and easily could have if I had taken better steps saving for it. I had a similar problem with the PS2 Linux kit.

I can't think of any portables that were made that I didn't at least try. The only thing I can really think of is the Wonder Swan Color. I own a B&W Swan but I always wanted to see how the color games looked.

Any Neo-Geo would be at the top of my list followed closely by the TurboGrafx16 and 3DO.

To this day, I have never played an Atari XE, Atari 5200, Atari Lynx, Colecovision or Amiga CD32. Probably never will, I'd guess.

Otherwise I have either owned or played every other system I ever had interest in.

I'd have to say it's the Turbografx-16 or Turbo-CD for me. I've wanted a TurboDuo in particular (way expensive now) for the longest time.

I didn't have any Turbo stuff growing up (I was an nes/snes kid) but in emulating it, I love the library.

I remember seeing the NeoGeo in Babbages way back in 1991. The system cost more than I made in a month, but it looked so damn cool. I couldn't care less now, but during '91 - '93 I definitely wanted to get one. Still have never played one.

As a former Turbo owner, it is definitely worth pursuing. Problem is, shopping for everything online.

I was fortunate to get ahold of my old system and game library locally for lower than market prices

I'd have to say the Neo Geo. I had saved quite a bit of money as a kid back then and almost ordered one out of a magazine ad but recanted as I decided that I could just spend that money on games for systems I already had and with what the games cost I'd never have a library like what I could get with my Genesis or SNES. I would like to try one out someday but with what they go for now; its pretty much the same situation.

Never have played these: Neo-Geo AES, Turbo-Dup, Atari 400/800/XE, MSX, N64 DD. Perhaps someday.

List of never played: Astrocade, Channel F, Amiga, Neo-Geo, SG-1000, Atari Lynx, Studio II, and some more I can't think of now. Channel F would be next on my list, followed by the Lynx.

I happen to own every system I've ever played (excluding newer systems like Wii, 3DS, and PSP). So this list consists of systems both that I would like to own as well as those which I've never played that I would like to play: Jaguar/Jaguar CD, Lynx, TG-16, TG-CD, Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo Pocket Color, 32x (can't imagine this is much different than playing a Genesis), Game Gear, Sega Master System.

    Wow...that is quite a few.

For me the only one left really is Commodore Amiga.

I pretty much have the rest except for some of the systems that are really just curiosities and not well known. Ie. Gizmondo, Zodiac, Xavixport, CD32, CDTV, Laseractive.

I only plan on getting an N-Gage if I find the port of X-Men Legends before the system itself.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

Hmmm, I suppose the 64DD is about it. Nothing else I'm missing has me that intrigued (not that I wouldn't want to pick them up anyway). PC-FX was a big one for awhile, but I've had the system for about a year now and have around half of the library.

Probably mainly the NeoGeo and surprisingly enough, the Virtual Boy. I'd like to try some of the older MSX stuff, and maybe a Vectrex someday as well.

Oh, and I wanted a Neptune, but we saw how that panned out...

Because of the Midwest Gaming Classic, I've played many systems I've wanted but haven't gotten the chance to own yet. I've played a Vectrex, a Neo-Geo, FM Towns Marty, Pippin, VideoBrain, PC-FX, Twin Famicom, Super A'Can and Coleco Adam, but own none of them. Most are pretty expensive. I've hit a wall, gotten all of the common systems.

As for systems I've never played, the 64DD seems cool, and I've been curious about the Amiga CD32, though I could probably find a similar experience on the Amiga I've recently gotten.

Having had an Amiga 500 back in the day (loved it), I always wanted to try/own an AmigaCD32. Not so much these days, but still a little bit curious...

Never owned, played, or even breathed on a Vectrex. That's one I'd like to get but probably never will. I'm certainly not desperate for one but its a system that would be nice to own and play.
