    Default Worst 3rd Party Controllers

Like the subject line states, what are the world's worst third party controllers? Bonus points if they are official licensed pieces of hardware. Tell your stories, particularly if they resulted in unfair losses in games. Nothing like losing at a party due to your inferior "extra controllers reserved for guests."

Those Gamestop-brand PS2 and Gamecube controllers were the absolute WORST! When I would go over friends houses usually someone would cheap out and have one of them and one regular controller, usually I got stuck with the half-broken piece of junk. Makes me glad I had 4 Wavebirds!

In fact, I think I've maybe used ONE good 3rd party controller for any system, and that was that Super 64 Pad.

I remember the High Frequency controllers sold at Toys R Us were atrocious. Stiff d-pads, less than responsive buttons, and the overall quality screamed Chinese sweat shop.

The worst one I've ever owned was The Rock 64-Bit for N64. I wrote a review of it on N64 fan-forums.

I know you've seen those unresponsive 3rd-party controllers that are a bit uncomfortable to hold. You think those are bad? No, The Rock is bad. The analog stick wasn't just unresponsive: it even work when it was brand new. It wasn't just uncomfortable: it literally hurt to hold, digging into your fingers with those sharp shoulders. I'd rather play Super Mario 64 with a Jaguar controller than this piece of junk.

A no name brand SNES controller. The cord is 4 ft long 0.0 with a very stiff and smaller than normal D-Pad, the L and R buttons feel weird, the controller connector gets stuck in every SNES I ever tried it on and it just feels un natural in your hands. Then there was an interact controller for the original Xbox, that thing broke after one round of Halo -.-

Oh then there was a Dreamcast controller, it was big and red, larger than the Jaguar and Xbox "Duke" Controller, it worked alright but felt really cheap.

I had an xbox controller Pelican maybe? It was pretty comfortable but the triggers broke which I thought was weird. And a "Rock" PS1 controller that is really quite bad.

... odd, I owned a High Frequency SNES pad and loved it.

My vote goes to those atrocious Dreamcast arcade "sticks". Not the Agetec ones. These ones:

You have to PUNCH the buttons so they work. PUNCH.

Sell it to the first chump you see on eBay. It's not worth a dollar.

I have some that look like they literally took an original SNES controller and made a mold of it, and then sanded off the the Nintendo logos and text on the back. The shoulder buttons on those are also so noisy they could wake the dead.

I don't know the specific brands/names, but I've had a lot of awful third-party non-Dual Shock PlayStation controllers pass through my hands. What I hated the most was when they'd mold ridges in the grips, I guess to wrap around your finger positioning in an attempt to be more ergonomic, but rather than being more comfortable, they feel freakin' terrible. They just dig into my hands in awkward ways.

Triax Turbo Touch 360. I had the NES one for about 10 minutes before I took it back. The commercial made it look like the greatest thing ever.

Goodness! If they say 16-BIT (or something to that effect) across the top, and have dark gray fonts I can attest to how HORRIBLE those things are. Just fucking terrible.
