Default FS: Region-free Sega Saturn - switchless and modchipped!

Model 2, comes with power cable, composite video cable and 1 controller. Everything functions extremely well and will be fitted with a brand new battery before shipping. Looks worse than it actually is, mostly dust and the camera flash LOVES dust.

I've fitted this Saturn with a region-free BIOS which will allow you to play any game from any region. No switches, no PIC installed forcing you to play a game of press the button. Just pop the game in and boot it up.

This Saturn also comes equipped with a modchip for the booting of back-ups. You will have an extremely hard time finding another Saturn this awesome (beyond something unholy).

    $130 shipped.

To sweeten the deal I'm tossing in 5 blank CD-R discs made by Taiyo Yuden. These guys are top notch discs that, if paired with a high quality burner, will last.

    I have a few chipped PS1s available as well (5501 and 9001):

    Addendum:
I'm also willing to swap your unmodded Saturn for one of mine taking $40 off the above pricetag.

    SERVICES
    ---------------
Sega Saturn region free BIOS chip and installation - $30
SegaCD region free BIOS chip and installation - $35 (chips are harder to find for this one)
Dreamcast Katana devkit BIOS chip and installation - $30
Playstation modchip and installation - $20

    What's the difference between a model 2 saturn and a model 1?

model 2 is less work to mod. it's near impossible to find a ready built model 1 modchip now.

Model 1 also has an LED for CD-ROM access which can be added to most Model 2 units IIRC. Beyond that the differences are mostly technical and under the hood.

I can modify the chips Racketboy is selling to work in a Model 1 if anyone desires such a procedure but beyond modding that specific modboard it is next to impossible to get Model 1 chips like theclaw said.

Bump. I will also have loose Sega Saturn modchips available, not many though.

Also willing to entertain trades but I am dead set on this price tag. Would LOVE to exchange one of these with a complete Steel Battalion setup.

Is this Saturn modded using the BIOS from dforce3000? So essentially it will play any region pressed discs, but not CD-Rs?

It plays everything at this point. It uses the same BIOS that 3000 hacked so it does have the same sounds as the Japanese Saturn does but is fully in English due to jumper settings.

I am also willing to swap a Saturn + $100 for one of mine. Now that I have a solid supply of chips I will have several of these Saturns on hand at a time. No model 1 Saturns for now

Do you know the AV pinout difference of Japanese Saturn? For some reason I get composite rather than RGB. Hoping there's some way we could fix that.

Offhand I don't and I can't seem to find anything unusual about it beyond that the Japanese SCART connector seems to have a different pinout than a European SCART connector.

Might be the cause of your problems but I haven't compared the two myself, yet. Though if you're using a PAL SCART cable with a Japanese Saturn it should work just fine.

Hmm. We'd have to check the system's AV connector voltages. It might be caused by incorrect RGB signaling. From what I've read I probably have a SCART cable wired only for PAL systems. Seems to me PAL saturn changed one of the AV port pins.

Yeah what I've got right now is a CD-R capable white saturn. Main issue with that is the import boot carts don't allow direct save in memory hog retail games. Composite instead of RGB is really only a minor quibble that doesn't affect gameplay.

Not bad. I'll be sure to have that examined. Might just go ahead with 50/60hz too after all, make sure those few picky games run nicely.

I noticed you added more services.

What is the "Dreamcast Katana devkit BIOS"?
