Default What was your greatest moment as a gamer

All of us gamers have moments where we achieved something great in a game. Maybe you bested the Ruby weapon in FF7 or perhaps you beat quake in under an hour on nightmare, or perhaps you... There are many different things that make us gamers happier than we have been while totally owning a video game. I will start us all off with a story about my best moment in gaming.
It was about 10 years ago or so that the local arcade had the Star Wars Trilogy game. http://www.skooldays.com/images/ag1179.jpg
This game was amazing, and it made me a very poor teenager, as all my "extra" money was dumped into this game. While playing one time, I noticed that two people were watching me play the game, just standing there watching the "magic" happen. I had beaten the first stage without getting hit once. When I selected the second mission, the Hoth battle, I noticed that a small group of about 10 people were watching at this point. I bested that stage, likewise without getting tagged once. Then comes the Boba Fett battle, where you block his blaster fire, and deflect some of them back into him. Once again, flawless. When I chose the battle of Endor, there was about 15 or so people just standing there. The feeling of having that many kids and adults watching as a totally smashed this game to bits, was well... I can't rightly describe it. So the battle of Endor went much as the other ones had. I knew the game really well as I had played it a lot and knew exactly when to show this or that. After Endor was the Vader fight, once again it was flawless. I had just beaten 3 out of 4 levels with the two bonus missions, without getting scratched. When the final Deathstar run began, my luck had run out. I started taking damage and even had to continue halfway through the level. About the same time I put in my second dollar the group had left and it was just me and the Deathstar left for my entertainment.
So yeah I didn't beat the game without getting hit or continuing, but the group that showed up to watch me smash the game, was amazing!

I was pk'd by this chick on battle.net. She wrecked my lvl 42 Mage that had great gear... Monster kill hack, took my stuff... For my revenge, I tracked her down in Bar and through the guilds, then married her and shared my life with her for a little over 12 years. Now we're even.

Nothing even comes close to that.

So your best moment in gaming is all about getting owned? Wow... as a gamer... you suck.
However, I do believe that you are the victor. And if she beat you that horribly, I would have tried to find and wed her as well. kudos

Being the 16 year old 'god' of SFII in my local arcade. I still relish the faces of the 'old men' (in their 20's) as I stomped their asses...

    Good times.

And here I would have thought it was learning you could jump on a box. Ah, Diablo, it brings back so many memories of PKing certain people. I'll never forget the number of times I "accidently" killed a certain cousin as she'd play with us.

For mine, it'd be when I was able to get my mom to sit down and play a game of Ikari Warriors with me and we used the ABBA cheat to get to the last stage.

My personal best was taking part in a high score contest for Gyruss at the local arcade when I was a teen. Scored 1.7 Million and 4th place.

Like Sunnyvale420, I'd have to say my most glorious moments in gaming are fighting game related, or to be more specific, Tekken and Street Fighter. Destroying a gang of fighters at SF III with Ken the first time I played the game is a cherished memory. Beating Time Crisis II without having to continue brings back a swelling pride too.

Everything checks out. Serendipity I guess. Still redundant, so merged.

    I have a couple:

-Finishing Castlevania for the first time during the last few minutes of the 1980s.
-Whomping a couple of 1-on-1 fighting experts at SNES Killer Instinct five times in a row - each (then retiring undefeated).
-Finishing the NES Predator way back when. Damn that was tough. Couldn't do it these days though.

Although I still think my crowning achievements when it comes to gaming in general are publishing a book about gaming (Memoirs of a Virtual Caveman) and being involved in the creation of Splatterhouse '10.

Beating Sonic 2 on its release day to a crowd in a Circuit City. I started playing and slowly the crowd grew as I kept going and going. The applause made it hard to squeeze my head through the door

A few that come to mind...

1.) I defeated the Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne boss (the real last boss) and Dragon Quest IV final boss each on the last possible hit. In both cases one more round would've killed my entire party and ended the game. The SMT Nocturne boss battle had been going on for 2 hours...it would've been devastating to die after all that. Thankfully I didn't.

2.) Getting the "If They Came to Hear Me Beg" achievement in Halo Reach after 500+ attempts. Some people get it after 1 or 2 tries. Seriously.

3.) Killing the Emerald and Ruby Weapons. Especially considering getting the KOTR materia is just part of killing these guys.

Mine was a true stroke of luck, and definitely a one-off for me. One time I sat down and just 1CC'd Super Darius on the PCE. I couldnt believe it when it happened, but it did. All of that trying and failing in Cave games, Radiant Silvergun, and Gradius III arcade, all on Saturn, around the same time paid off in Darius.

Probably the time I schooled a friend on a wrestling game in front of a bunch of others. Now that doesn't sound like a big deal until you consider inrarely play wrestling games and this particular friend was well known for wanting to play games that he was very familiar with against people who had no idea how to play. Usually it worked ok for him but not this time

    One other moment I forgot:

Beat Simon's Quest in the 3-day rental period I had it, with only 1 call to the Nintendo game counselors.
