While digging through boxes of old gaming mags, I came across the 1992 Video Game Buyer's Guide 1992. Very, very intresting stuff. Among the highlights.

It seems every game reviewed in 1991 is covered here. Battletoads for the NES got all 9s... jebus, is this the most overrated game ever or what?

Sonic the Hedgehog beat Super Mario World for Game of the Year. Heh, 10 years later everyone remembers Super Mario World as an instant classic while Sonic is little more then a gimmicky type game.

Bonk's Revenge was the TG16 game of the year...

Sherlock Homes for the TG 16 was named most innovative game of the year for it's FMV style game play that they couldn't WAIT to see more of. Heh.

Holy shit, they reviewd the systems, review crew style.

NES got a 5 from Steve, 5 from Ed, 6 from Martain, and a 6 from Sushi X.
SNES got a 8, 8, 8, and 7.
SMS got a 5, 4, 5, and 5.
Genesis 9, 9, 9, and 9
TG 16 got a 6, 7, 6, and 6
Neo Geo (!) got a 7, 6, 6, 5. How my memory fails me, I didn't even remeber this thing was out in 1992
Gameboy got a 4, 4, 5, and 3
Lynx got a 6, 5, 5, and 5.
Game Gear got a 3, 4, 3, and 4.
Turbo Express got a 7, 7, 6, and 7.

They said that in 1992 the Genesis was going to kill the SNES because it could never outperform the Genesis. Heh. Two years later, DKC would undo all of that.

Well, this helped serve a reminder that people were impressed by anything back in 1992.
