Default Rhythm Heaven Fever for Wii

I can't wait for Rhythm Heaven Fever! (The game is also known in Europe as Rhythm Paradise and in Japan as Everyone's Rhythm Heaven.) As a big fan of the Game Boy Advance original and a big downer on the "flick" controls of the DS sequel, I am happy and excited for the Wii one because it is a return to form - just the A and B buttons are used in the game, no awkward gimmicks!

As Rhythm Heaven Fever was already released in Japan a long time ago plenty of videos of the game can be found on YouTube. My personal favorite from what I've seen so far is where you help a masked wrestler give an interview to a crowd of journalists.

Delightfully bizarre. Not exactly fine cuisine, but i may try it at a friends place.

    Nope!

I'm more interested in how they'll handle the translation of the some of the songs. Please don't mess up my Wrestler Interview!

A new info approaches! Get ready!

According to Nintendo Power, Wii will see the release of "Rhythm Heaven Fever" on February 13 for $30. I know I will purchase this on day one!

Hmmm, only $30? Dang, that's decent of you, Nintendo, I fully expected it to be $50.

I picked up the DS game on clearance, but I didn't enjoy it very much... not a fan of the flicking mechanic. Button controls might feel better though, and at 30 bux, I'm tempted to give it another try.

Yeah, because of Nintendo's "All first party games must employ our gimmicks!" policy a lot of DS and Wii games are, I believe, less playable than they would be otherwise if Nintendo would allow the development groups to choose to use the best control method available. Buttons are almost always better. Alternate control schemes are just that - alternatives to proven, precise, accurate response methods. Sometimes they trump buttons and those are the only times when you should use them.

That is what tarnished Rhythm Heaven's western debut. The GBA game, the original Rhythm Heaven (Rhythm Tengoku), is just about ideal and includes a lot of music and vocals for a GBA game. It uses only the A button, B button, and D-Pad to play (with Start to pause). The DS game looks better and its sound has higher fidelity, but the tap, swipe, and especially flick controls are just not good for keeping a timely beat!
