Default How was it that I make a NES / Famicon converter?

I remember that some of the earlier NES carts actually have the board of Famicon games, only there's a converter inside that makes it an NES cart. So...

To play Famicon cart games, I rip this off, flip it around, and use it as a converter? I can't remember honestly. I'd probably have to make a makeshift casing for it. Tips on how to do this?

PS. Are these the carts that don't have the grip notch on the cart? I have some flush older NES carts (like Mach Rider and quite a few Konami carts).

I have a Famicom to NES converter to trade/sale if you need one.

But to find converter in the early NES games, look those who have screws. And the also more heavy than normal.

I tried looking for one of these a few months back. Here's my experience: there's really no way to tell if the cart has the converter without opening first. Every method people have mentioned here (and several others that I'd heard/read about) proved unreliable. All in all I opened at least 20 carts that were all prime candidates for having the converter(launch release games, screws in back, etc etc) and not a single one had the converter. I ended up trading with a guy for one of those Honeybee style adapters, and it's great. IMO trying to go the cheap way ended up wasting more time and money than just buying the Honeybee.

games realeased on christmas of 85 10/85.
Most common are excitebike and gyromite although there are a few others. THe ones with the chips are heavier than te normal carts. The converter is a little black thing that converts 60 pin to 72 pin.

They Gyromites I've opened have both had them. Plus, if you can find them they are like 89 cents at Gamestop. Buy a bunch, open them up till you find one, seal the rest back together and then return them.

I second that, most of the Gyromites I've opened contain the converter. I haven't seen one at a Gamestop in quite a while, but good luck.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

I opened 3 Gyromites and none of them had a converter.
