Default Can this NES game be saved?

I'm just wondering if I should even try to fix it, it's a copy of Super Dodgeball but the board is in really bad shape. All I could get when trying the game out was a messed up screen with a single note being played, so I opened it up and found this. The capacitor wasn't even in the case, it was just missing. I've included some pics below.

I don't see why not. Try simply soldering in a new cap.

Yeah, if you don't mind wasting the time it's always at least worth a try. I'd try using some 90% rubbing alcohol on it first to get up the majority of the corrosion and junk on the board, and then clean the cart contacts and try to replace the component in C1 like Satoshi Matrix mentioned; I'm not sure what rating you'd want for it though.

Best case scenarios is it's fixed! Worst case it's not and you're just out your time

The solder pad for the capacitor needs to be cleaned up before it can even be used, probably will need the adjacent grounding used instead.

A great deal of cleaning should be done as well to see if there are any other damaged traces.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

I guess I could try to fix it, I wasn't even sure if it was possible to be fixed as several of the traces look rusted. If you look right above the edge connector you can see one that rusted through, and several others starting to bubble up because of the rust.

I'll try to find my soldering iron, I won't throw this out just yet if you guys think it could be fixed.

actually its not rust its just the lamination (for lack of a better word of the green stuff) coming undone but i have seen much worse, if you replace any components i wouldnt use any hotter than a 15 watt soldering iron aswell since its already starting to go on top if being old tech that uses solders that dont need high temps any way....

unlike newer lead free stuff that my 10 watt-er cant even penetrate

and also electronics cleaner from radio shack works, not well, but it works
