If the AC adapter puts out DC power yes, otherwise no.

The amperage doesn't matter so long as it is above what it needs. I'd get something with at least 1amp at 6v but be sure to match the voltage exactly!
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

Also make sure to check the tip polarity it should be somewhere on the actual device. If that's wrong the device won't power on.

(-)---(o---(+) If it looks like this, it has a positive tip.

(+)---(o---(-) If it looks like this, it has a negative tip.

I would ask the seller to take a high res shot of the specs on the power supply or ask them for the polarity and amperage.

Another idea is to find a power supply with a removable connector so you can set the correct polarity and have the right connector as well.

I've been trying to find any information like a manual and came across this:

    http://datamath.org/Speech/SpeaknMath.htm

    http://datamath.org/Speech/SpeaknSpell.htm

Looks like both use the AC9199 AC adapter which I found on eBay :

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Texas-Instru...item5646fadf41

Seems the specs are 6v 285mA, no polarity on the adapter but that is the original AC adapter so it should work perfectly. If you don't want the original adapter then you will have to find the right connector with an AC adapter rated at DC 6v 300mA or higher. As APE992 said, the higher milliamps wont hurt it since it only takes what it requires, it's the voltage, polarity and type of voltage that matters.

Although do make sure that the PSU is regulated or a 300ma PSU as if you plug in a unregulated PSU with a higher amperage in then if the unit does not draw enough current then the voltage tends to increase, which for some old electronic games can be fatal.

Cheap multivoltage PSUs will be fine as long as they are regulated or unregulated at 300ma.
