Came across this NES sign in my area. Looks pretty cool, but I am broke.
I think it is 2 sided but not sure if both sides light up, they look different. Any ideas?

That is pretty cool, 200$ seems like alot considering it needs bulbs, and where would one find bulbs that fit that?
I would say both sides light up. The bulbs on one side shine through the plastic with the sign on the other

It may need more than just bulbs, one side is neon and if that's what's not working I don't know how you can fix it while keeping it cheap.
I'd have him turn it on. What Gameguy said about the neon is accurate; If it's cracked or broke, you have to replace that entire piece. The bulbs inside will be obtainable to light the back. If it doesn't power up at all, talk him down because it's 'broke', take it home, and replace the fuse, ballast, or wiring assembly. The neon is the only thing that would put me off on this.
The sign only has the appearance of neon. One side is raised text in the form of neon. Both sides are lit from the same bulb. I think they are 2' fluorescent but has been a while since I looked inside one. Also could have a bad ballast or starters which are pretty easy fixes.
I know a guy who has one that looks very similar to these (he'd never sell it... Kind of an eccentric guy). It uses fiberoptics, a light bulb, and a rotating disk to make the lights "flash"
Don't have anything that cool but here's a few I got.

This sign uses fluorescent bulbs that sign through a raised plastic piece, that is supposed to resemble a neon sign. Only 1 side lights up, as the backside is solid metal. I have this same sign, and it's pretty sweet. There is also another one that is very similar, but it has a Nintendo seal of quality on it as well.
