Wait, why do we get all these categories for game platforms, but not a single one for PC? That's a bit unfair considering how many games were released for the PC in 2011.

But while I'm complaining, we should also have a category for smartphone games (iOS/Android/etc.).

We did a PC category for a few years and all we ever got was a couple of nominees, pretty much making the category useless. If you care to nominate PC games, feel free to do so.

Smartphones are still kinda new, and I didn't want to have a ton of categories. Again, feel free to nominate if you like.

This game has been my absolute favorite for 2011. Heck, I'd even consider it my favorite game on the DS. I haven't felt this much love and dedication put into a game for a long time.

I actually did play a few new releases this year, but only on a few platforms. I want to love the consoles, but there's just not enough to grab my attention. PC gaming, however, is getting much better (and it's about time).

Best FPS/Action/Adventure - Deus Ex: Human Revolution (yeah, all three categories)

GOTY - Despite all of its shortcomings, Deux Ex: Human Revolution. It's not Warren Spector's masterpiece, but it's a worthy successor and I would like that studio produce another game in the series.


I'd like to note that since I've barely put any time into Skyrim so far, I can't honestly say if it belongs on this list or not. I'm not even thinking about picking up Skyward Sword until after Skyrim, and possibly until after Xenoblade too. I got Arkham City as a free download with an SSD, but I haven't really gotten into it very much. That's about it for 2011 releases that I've played.

I'd like to add one more category, if I may...

Best Technical Achievement - Portal 2 - "The Wake Up Call"
There is a LOT going on in this scene, and they talk about it in the commentary. The physics aren't real-time, but it's very impressive to see that much going on at once.

From what I can tell, the original Flash version of VVVVVV was released in late 2010. The binary release was 2011.
