I've been thinking about picking this up lately but am wondering weather I should pick up the wii or gc version. Is there a definitive difference between them or can you use non-motion controls with the wii version? How are the motion controls for the game and is is worth it just to pick up the GC version because of it? I really haven't been enthralled with a zelda game since Links Awakening so is this one to give a shot or should I just go for Skyward Sword instead?

While they're both really good games in their own way, I actually think Twilight Princess is a better game. It's got a supernatural darkness and sense of urgency to it that comes across very quickly, which really makes it the most memorable Zelda game for me. Skyward Sword hits you over head with cuteness for the first several hours. It may get cooler but I'm not that far into it yet.

As for Wii vs. GC, I've played them both and I can't really tell a difference between them other than the Wiimote functionality. Some people tell me the Wii version looks superior but I can't really tell. However, using the Wii mote is actually really cool for fishing and playing Rollgoal. It's not a huge difference, but it's enough to make me recommend the Wii version over the GC.

The wii version, in order to make Link right handed for the motion controls, actually flipped/mirrored the ENTIRE GAME. So the maps, everything, it's all flipped on the wii.

On the plus side it has 16:9 and the arrows control better since they're controlled with the wii pointer, but that's not enough for me since they had toe gall to flip the game.

You also cannot control the camera in the wii version where you can on the gamecube.

TLDR: Get The Gamecube Version, play it as was intended.

If you can only get one, get the GC version

however, i have both and have played through each one twice.

each version has a different feel to it

    sooooo, get both.

If price is a consideration, the Wii version is part of the Nintendo Selects line at $20 new, while used copies of the Cube version can run you $30-40.

Gamecube version is better IMO. Plus it was how it was intended and does not have some of the potentially game ending glitches the Wii version has.

Life!? ... What console is that on?

I thought the Wiimote aiming was better, and appreciate 16:9, but otherwise the GC version was better. Combat is definitely a lot better with a button than with waggle. I'd go for GC if you can get a copy for a good price.

I am considering buying the wii version, you mentioned something about the game ending glitches it has, what are those glitches and would it greatly affect my enjoyment of the game? thanks.

The fatal bug in Twilight Princess was fixed. If you buy a Nintendo Selects copy, you won't have any worries. I also believe it wasn't present in the GCN release which was released later.

Skyward Sword also has a game ending bug that can be triggered due to the order you choose to do things.

Thanks for the info.... so I’ll just have to look for the Nintendo Selects copy then.
