yeah it does actually attest to the rarity of the items in question
but one thing is not known is how rare they really are while most typos and such probily do not get returned
but the ones with the different games maybe rarer and are harder to get a hold of because they were returned to the store and got destroyed
with any collectable theres levels of rarity. i was sad when i found more accounts of tony hawk 2 which i got from someone through a forum
then found one on ebay complete sold the incomplete one for half of what i spent on the complete one . in my small collection of this particular error type not counting the mass produced (Strider and jet moto 2). i think i own 3 rare ones two of which are one of a kinds. even for wrong games on the disc theres more common ones i have accounts of people returning them time and time again NHL 2k6.i know of 4 tony hawks . more them them seems to make them collectable Final Fantasy 7 with the floating i always seems to garner more of a price. (even though the game is dirt common and even the error is common)

I've always personally loved Eliminotor Boat Duel for the NES. It's SO obvious (on the end label) and looks SO wrong that every time I see it, I sort of giggle and it sticks out to me like a sore thumb all the time now.

Hahaha, that really is a legendary flub. "Elimonator" just looks so very, very stupid.

Australian copies of Top Gear Overdrive (N64).

All state "Designed for N64 Expansion Pak" underneath the Rumble Pak icon. Early releases are also missing the OFLC rating, but this was remedied by putting a sticker on the front of later produced releases.

This copy on eBay is an example, like the copy I own (which I bought in Dec 1998 when the game first released here). Expansion Pak typo + no rating (which technically made it illegal for sale!): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Top-Gear-...item337139092d

    Thrilling stuff.

There is a Black Label Final Fantasy VII with the disc 3 meteor underprint in disc 2 instead of the normal Highwind underprint. There was a discussion a few weeks back.
Evil Zone SLOS-00855 is printed on the spine instead of SLUS-00855, seems to be all copies.
Capcom just committed a war crime with the Resident Evil "Revelaitons" error.
There is also a greatest hits Castlevania game for the PS1 with a wrong data on CD error. I'll try to remember to ask the owner about it next week.

Face palm. Just found this while excelling DC games.

US Fighting Force 2 on Dreamcast has Toy Commander's retail barcode (0 10086 51020 1)

Will now have to hunt to see if there's a corrected version.

Super Street Fighter II for SNES was the one to have the Japanese version on the rom in certain copies of the game in the US. From the DP rarity guide:

Don't be too surprised if your US release is in Japanese. Some carts drifted north from a Mexican system package that included this cart. There is also speculation that the Japanese version was made available (on an SNES cart) as a pre-release rental in the US.

    Has anybody else noticed that?

I'm not sure how I'd classify the error, but my cartridge of Super Mario All-Stars has a feature in Super Mario Bros 3 where if you hit the select button, it'll cycle through all of the various powerups and suits available in the game. I've never encountered anyone else who had that happen to them... gotta say it makes beating the game much easier.

I do recall reading another thread on another forum where it was estimated to be a bug with all copies.
They programmers probably removed the code that specifically enabled it, but didn't disable it, so it's set by whatever the flag in RAM gets set to randomly on console power-up. (so in otherwords, it's controlled by uninitialized RAM)
Possibly differences due to the console and environment around the console would lead to a bias whether the RAM favors setting the bits to 0s or 1s.

I finally asked about the the Castlevania ~Symphony of the Night~ Greatest Hits data error. The game on the disc is Elmo's Number Journey.

Edit: noticing Serious Sam Data N 1 Defective Disc Recalled. I know of 7 other games like that
Tales of Eternia PSP PAL-EU, Volt Glitch
    Star Ocean ~Till the End of Time~ PS2 NTSC-J/Japan, Crashing on SCPH-10000
Tales of Graces Wii NTSC-J/Japan, Extremely Buggy
Pokémon ~Fushigi no Dungeon Blue~ DS NTSC-J/Japan, Erases GBA Saves on unrelated games
Ar tonelico II ~Melody of Metafalica~ PS2 NTSC-U/C, A Super Boss' special attack crashes the game.
Pokémon RS (GBA both first versions, Emerald was fine) series all regions, Berry Glitch (RTC bug)
The first 4 were quickly recalled the 5th was never fixed and the 6th was fixed via patching.
I only included ones that were Severe/potentially game breaking, difficult to avoid, or were corrected via extreme measures (ie disc replacement or offline patching, minor ones are not included like Star Ocean 2 and 4 crash bugs are rare in 2 and are easily avoidable in 4 nor are beneficial bugs FFVII W-Item bug).

Edit2: Added bug info, more games
The Legend of Zelda ~Skyward Sword~ Wii NTSC-U/C Event trigger failure
Lunar ~Silver Star Story Complete~ Demo. PS1 NTSC-U/C Nall Ocarina bug during save transfer to final game
Lunar Legend GBA Item Duplication/Erasure bug NTSC-U/C possibly others.
Holiday 2004 Demo PS2 NTSC-U/C Viewtiful Joe erases PS2 memory cards
    Latter was Recalled.

I think this thread is about video games with errors caused by the manufacturing process, not programming errors.

There was at least 1 similar one listed in the first post as I said. BTW there were also some Dreamcast launch titles that lacked a proper boot key.
