Definately a Day 1 purchase for me. Loved Resident Evil 5 and its co-op mode, even though many seemed to hate it.
I'm sorry but... Where's Nemesis? Where's Ashley? The woman with Leon at the beginning of the trailer looked somewhat like her I guess.... That one BOW looks somewhat similar, but why would they use Nemesis again? All he is is a T-002 model, with a parasitic controller inside his head. It's been ten years since RE2, I'm sure they've come up with better controllable BOWs since then.
But more importantly, I'm going to ask the questions that every hardcore RE nerd such as myself has been asking the last ten years.
Where's Barry? Where's Rebecca? Where's Ada? Most importantly of all, where the hell is Sherry? With both Leon AND Chris being involved with this, Claire HAS to be in there somewhere. We never got 100% closure with Steve (my favorite character), and yet with Wesker's half-assed bullshit exit from the franchise, we may never know. I also want to know exactly what happened between Wesker and Ada after she "betrayed" him in RE4. Did he go after her? Did he just ignore it? How did he get the authentic Plagas specimen?
That new guy in the trailer looks okay, but his gameplay just looks like more co-op nonsense. Though Leon looks single player only. The new guy screams "Wesker child".
This does look better than RE5. But then again, RE5 looked amazing, but the storyline just about ruined everything I held sacred and dear about the franchise. I miss Mikami so much.
What made the originals so damn great, was how close they were to each other in the timeline. Zero, Rebirth, Nemesis, 2, Gun Survivor, and finally CODE: Veronica. They were all within four months of each other. Then they started the huge jump in years starting with RE4, and that's where things got ridiculous, and they essentially started ignoring characters.
Fuck... But the RE fanatic in me is going to buy it, like I do EVERYTHING else with the words "Resident Evil" on it, regardless of how terrible it is.
Okay, according to IGN, it looks like Ada will be in the game...

I've watched that trailer upmteen times tonight.
I'm excited as is my ex-roommate and RE5 repeat play through co-op buddy. Can't wait to dust off our bluetooth headsets to tackle this one.
And now...the painful wait begins.

Yeah, I feel sorry for anyone who had to play through RE5 by themselves. My brother and I went through the game in two days, had an absolute blast... Until that Goddamn boulder punching segment. You know the one. That took a while. (as a result, we now refer to anything that's amazing until the very end, when it sucks, as "punching the boulder". e.g., "Man, I did REALLY well at the tournament, got out of pools, and then I had to play BananaKen and I punched the boulder".)
I don't get the haters, honestly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm certainly not saying they're wrong, but 90% of Resident Evil 5 is pure gold. Also, if you haven't played the DLC, it's also amazing. No boulders to punch in the DLC!
Actually, I'm gonna go play some RE5 right now.
Hey, just in time for the new movie! How convenient!

Unless they actually let us move and shoot at the same time I'm going to pass on this one like I did for 5.

Forget I said anything about "boulder punching". Never happened.

I'm losing interest the more that I hear of it. Previously they said that they want to be less survival horror and now the zombies are transformed marines who run and shoot guns? In other words, just another shooter with the RE name slapped on it. Meh, I'll wait until its on sale.

RE hasn't been "survival horror" since RE3, so it's nothing new.
There have been plenty of survival horror RE titles since then. The series has went from survival horror to shooter to cater to the masses, where there are those of us who want a true Resident Evil style game.
Remake, Code Veronica, and the Outbreak games are all older style of gameplay. Never played Zero though so don't know if it is or not.
I think aside from the ridiculous load times, the Outbreak games are the best. True progression of Resident Evil gameplay. The same gameplay as the older Resident Evil titles with limited ammunition lying around along with anything lying around that can be found is now able to be used as a weapon. Zombies no longer are confined to a single location as they can now move from room to room. I believe how bad the load times were in the first game is the reason people skipped out on purchasing the second game. I purchased the game day one, but thankfully kept my receipt as I returned the game to Gamestop later that month when the game dropped to $20 because it wasn't selling. Who knows why the load times were as bad as they were, but a lot of people think it's because the ads online and Capcom just left it the same during the single player minus the ads. It's clear why the games didn't sell very well, and it's not because they weren't good games.
^Zero is "old school" RE. It's best of both worlds then. And it's not a shooter, it's a solid mix, which is why it's so popular. I'm pumped for RE6, and the biggest reason is the co-op. IMO RE4 is much better as a game then RE5, but the co-op in RE5 is what makes the game so damn fun.
