Lightbulb Linux Game Publishing CEO Resigns [Slashdot]

An anonymous reader writes "The CEO of the once fledging Linux Game Publishing, Michael Simms, has announced his resignation. Simms attributes his resignation from the Linux game porting company he founded more than a decade ago to being burned out and having little success as of late in his work."In his place, Clive Crouse will be taking the helm.

It would be a great, great thing if Linux were to take off as a gaming platform. The GP2X handheld series might even rise as a decent competitor to Nintendo's dominance of the hand-held market. I just don't see it happening, however. Microsoft has, if I'm not incorrect, made game-programming a lot easier with the XNA language, and Linux really just isn't ready for prime-time in terms of a stable platform that's easy for the end-consumer to use. Linux really needs a DirectX equivalent, with stable versioning that guarantees games to work for long-term compatibility, before they can even hope to challenge Windows.
