Default Sega Genesis Mortal Kombat blues

The other day I was watching a YouTube video of MK1 for Sega Genesis. While watching it, I noticed there was some audio differences from the cart that I own. For starters the fatality music was included ( miissing in my copy) and the uppercut sound effect didn't cut out as much. This was bugging me, so after goggling I found the answer. Basically, the guy on YouTube was playing a Emulator with a ROM with a version of REV 01, While I'm not here to talk about ROMs I'm interested. Does anyone know there was different versions of MK1 for Genesis out there in cart form?

While the differences are small they are awesome .

Interesting find. It's worth mentioning that even the first stage in comparison between the two videos/versions is slightly different. REV 00 having the ridges on the wall between the fighters and the crowd while REV 01 does not. All the same, interesting.
    Whaddya mean invalid parameters?!

9,000 gigs of ram and it still can't answer a simple question!

While I don't own it anymore, I can honestly say mk1 and 2 were my most played games of that era. I definitely had the first version.

It's funny how the subtle things can make a difference!

Dang now I got to repurchase it...

Interesting find. I had the Sega CD version, so I had redbook music, but I don't recall any problem with the sound effects.

Man, the Genesis port is horrible. The sound effects are absolutely terrible! There aren't even any sound effects associated with stuff like Rayden's teleport or dive. My friend preferred this version over the SNES, but I never understood why. It probably has half the frames of animation, 1/3 the color palette, and bad audio.

Neither version plays particularly well but, compared to MK on SNES, controls in the Genesis port are notably more responsive.

Having just checked my copy of Genesis MK, it would appear I have REV 00 as evidenced by the ridged wall in the Courtyard and the lack of Fatality-specific music.

That's the one I had too. Only thing I hated about it was the lag when the last boss morphed.
