Default The Space Adventure - Cobra: The Legendary Bandit (Sega CD)

    Hey guys,

I stumbled upon this game at a garage sale of all places some time ago and always wondered what it was worth. It's one of those games that you don't hear too much about, so that's why I'm asking here. The disc surface itself has several light-to-moderate scratches that didn't seem to affect the gameplay when I booted the game up. I played for about a half hour and everything went smoothly. I was only able to get the game itself in a generic CD case without the original box or instructions, but it was $2, so I couldn't complain. Pristine and complete copies seem to pop up on eBay lately for around $130-140, but this copy is nowhere near complete.

Here are some pictures -- sorry for the quality:

    Any thoughts?

Disc only, even with scratches, I think his bottom is more like $30-50.

Might be upwards of $60-75 if someone really wants it and doesn't want to shell out ~$150 for the complete copy. It's not an easy game to find.

I've always wanted a copy of this. The bluray just came out in japan so i've been watching the show recently.

To answer your question, at LEAST $80. I wouldn't be surprised if you got $80-100 just because the game is so damn rare. Not that I would pay that but complete copies have been ending at $160.00 so if the disc has no scratches, i wouldn't be surprised if you got half of what a complete copy goes for.

I think it will be to hard to find a buyer willing to pay more than $20 for a disc only scratched up copy. if it was scratchless, sure Id see it going upwards of $30-50

keep in mind its pristine and complete copies that rake in the dough, not scratched up disc only copies. A copy complete with a scratchy disc/bendy manual would normally only go for about 75-85$

I still stand by my estimate, unless you can point me to a disc only copy that ended recently. Everyone selling one on ebay seems to have a complete copy.

Half the price of a complete copy isn't THAT crazy.

I don't see it. If you're gonna collect Sega CD, chances are you at least want the instructions and case. I don't know too many disc only Sega CD collectors (actually, I don't know any other than the occasional complete collector who keeps a disc only copy to play), especially since if you just want the game, they can easily be burned to CD-R.

A disc only copy in excellent shape sold for under $50.

Most complete copies are going for around $80-$100 at auction, the ones selling for more are buy-it-nows. Those still sell at higher prices, but they're complete copies.

I stand corrected, looks like $50 for a loose copy is the going price.

Thanks a lot for your guys' input. Wasn't sure what to expect price-wise, given the condition/rarity of the game.

I'd recommend at least getting a DVD case for it and printing out a cover for the game from The Cover Project to make it look nice. Also, if you know a reputable retro game shop you can probably get it resurfaced, just make sure they know what they're doing and don't think it's a regular old DVD.

It's a fun game, but not the asking price for it has really shot up in the last year or so. I'm lucky I got my copy right before Sega CD stuff started going crazy.

Thing is, this is one game where it depends on who's looking for it. I've seen it go for high prices and I've seen it go for cheap, just b/c there wasn't a collector out to get it that particular week. It isn't a high profile game like Keio or Popful Mail or Snatcher, so an open auction can go any which way.
