I just bought some Magnavox Odyssey 2's with the faux-silver paint is real chipped. What is the best paint I could use to refurbish it? And a safe way to smooth down the plastic of all the old paint?

Just to clear things up: I don't need it 100% like the original paint, and from what I've heard, it's more like a finish than paint really. So just anything close to the original color would suffice.
And what would be a safe way of sanding it down? I'd like to know. What grade of sandpaper would I use?
Thanks,
Albert
Try 800-2000 grit sand paper on the paint to make everything smooth again; most of the very high grit sandpaper has artwork indicating autobody work. I've often found using it wet produces a better look than using it dry. You also might try seeing if a local autobody shop knows anyone who could match the original paint and give you something that would look awesome.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?
