Did he mention how this conclusion was reached, or some kind of study or ... anything?? I assume this is the same Adam Carolla that used to brag about his world class 'porn dungeon' back in his KROQ days..
I always assumed today's college-aged kids were so jaded because the whole hipster-douchebag scene is in and we have an entire generation of entitled brats..
Who gives even half a shit what Adam Carolla thinks? Seriously. To bloody hell with ad hominem... how could a former co-host of The Man Show ever hope to be taken seriously whenever he critiques culture?

I think there's an important qualifier missing here - Adam Carolla is NOT a gamer.
As a long time fan of the radio show Loveline, I've grown to appreciate and respect Adam Carolla deeply. He's incredibly witty and generally gives great advice.
In this instance though, he's more or less just an old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn. He has said a few times over the years that he doesn't play videogames, and as such, he's just blaming gaming without really understanding it.
I remember him talk about getting Medal of Honor Rising Sun as he's a huge war buff, but then being confused by the controls and giving up before he even got out of the lower decks of the USS Arizona.

Working at a college, I find that this jaded attitude comes from the students feeling as if the entire thing is a waste of time or that they wish they were doing something (quoting a class here) "useful to the world instead of sitting around with some old man/women".
Video games went back in time and killed Jesus. Suck it Judas.

What Satoshi said. Even after Loveline, I've listened to some of his podcasts (and I hate podcasts!) and the guy isn't retarded. He has genuine insights, often calling bullshit when he sees it. His atheist stance just solidified the respect I already had for him as a no-nonsense here's-sexual-advice kind of a guy from Loveline. So what if he's wrong once? That doesn't make him incompetent. And if you think Man Show was the lowest of the low, you must never have watched an episode.

Wait, what? Sex toys didn't exist when he was younger?
I don't always agree with him, but I will always love, enjoy and be entertained by Adam. He's funny, smart and for the most part I agree with his opinions. (minus this one)
I don't have anything against Corolla, but I don't find him very funny or insightful -- like, at all. I've only seen him on Love Lines, which I've seen a fair bit of, and on The Man Show which I've seen little of, and I was mainly put off by off by his presence on both.
Oh sex toys... For a minute I thought blowjob whilst playing X Man (Atari VCS)
Why not add video games to the list of things that make college kids jaded? This current generation of self-entitled douche-nozzle 20-somethings make me sick. Especially the hipster, skinny-jean, porkpie hat wearing "men". I see these "guys" when I go out with the missus and feel repulsed when I see this is what men have become. I just want to take pictures of these "guys" and then mail them to them 20 years from now so they can see what D-Bags they were.
As for Aceman Carolla, I know he's portrayed in the media as a racist, misogynist, and all-around mean guy. But, when you listen to the things that bother him, they are real issues you'll never hear politicians talk about. He's not a raving lunatic as many believe but someone who would like to see everything that is really truly wrong with this country get fixed even if it means he has to make sacrifices himself. And there is plenty of shit wrong with this country.

I have, actually, watched The Man Show on more than a few occasions, and I will say that it was cleverly written prolefeed at its best and mind-numbingly stupid tripe that reinforced the basest aspects of our culture at its worst. Please pardon me if I smirk at Carolla's asinine comments about our culture in light of his own lofty contributions to our culture. Mind you, this doesn't necessarily invalidate everything he has to say, but it does cause a warm wave of smug, elitist satisfaction to wash over me when I reflect on the sweetness of the irony. Perhaps I am overly sensitive to the lowering (or, at the very least, reinforcing of the already low level) of culture of our civilization as a resident of the South, where ignorance is too often celebrated, blind patriotism is followed into each and every ditch, and sexist stereotypes are championed as if they were the highest virtues. Might well be a factor. Who knows, eh?
I will, however, say in Corolla's defense, that anyone who has a microphone in front of them for long enough will inevitably say something stupid or hypocritical. So understand: I ain't condemning the man; I just don't care what he has to say. That's all.
Yeah... I remember that skit. It was a decent slice of clever, wasn't it?
I never said he was incompetent. He is an intelligent and (obviously) witty man. I just don't think he has the necessary ethos (credibility) to be casting judgment on culture. You can't be the guy who sh*t on the floor in the bathroom instead of in the toilet and then cry about some dude pissing on the toilet seat.
As far as former hosts of The Man Show that I give a damn about what they have to say, I'd definitely rank Joe as the top.
Oh! By the way, o.pwuaioc, I use to live in Brooklyn many moons ago. While people in the South think I don't have an accent or I'm a "Yankee," everyone in your neck of the woods thought I sounded like a hay seed country boy. Funny that.

Want to know the bigger irony? I can't stand the southern accent, and I lived in Memphis, TN for about 15 years before moving only about 3 years ago. Thankfully, I never picked up the accent. But I do understand and sympathize about the debasement of culture and antipathy toward the intellect and learning. I just think you misjudged Carolla on that one.
