A cursory search through Google says that it's based on the game Freedom Fighter, which is based on the anime Galaxy Express 999.

So a video game titled Escape from CyberCity uses footage from the anime Galaxy Express 999 but doesn't use footage from the anime Cyber City. Makes sense.

I picked this game up a few months back. Does anyone know if this game is compatible with the light gun revolver? I would assume it is, but I want to be sure before I buy one.
