Default Nintendo Console Box Designs, 1985-1990

Could anyone please give me some insight as to the different starfield backgrounds Nintendo used for its box art (for its consoles and related bundles) from 1985 to 1990? I am looking only for those box art variations applicable to North American NTSC systems.

From 1985 to early 1988, the starfield was a very dark blackish-blue. The starburst seal read "This seal is your assurance that Nintendo has approved and guaranteed the quality of this product." Seen on the NES Deluxe Set (1985-87), the first issues of the NES Action Set (early 1988) and the Control Deck Set.

From late 1988 to spring 1989, the starfield was a tad lighter. The starburst seal then read "This seal is your assurance that Nintendo has evaluated and approved the quality of this product." This definitely applied to first issues of the NES Power Set (the one with the Power Pad and the 3-in-1 Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet Game Pak). May also have been used for the 2nd issue of the NES Action Set (late 1988).

From spring 1989 to summer 1990, the box art seemed to have the same lighter blue starfield. The seal changed to an oval starburst with the words "Official Nintendo Seal of Quality." At the same time, the Zapper Light Gun's colors changed from a two-tone grey to grey and orange.

In summer 1990, a red banner was added which read "NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM." The old grey/white Nintendo logo and yellow "ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM" text is removed, obviously. The description is listed in bold, gold letters rather than red. Seen on the NES Action Set, NES Power Set and NES Challenge Set of the period.

    Thank you,
