Default Anyone's computers / video game systems catch fire?

I have so much stuff hooked up I am afraid the room is gonna catch fire! Has anyone have a game system or computer catch fire? What about those surge protectors too? I had a Nintendo melt before cause I short circuited it.... long story...

Tell me if you guys have worries about that stuff or if it happened to you

If you must keep all of your stuff plugged in, do it in a safe and intelligent way. Plugging 65 things into one outlet with extension cords and surge protectors is a good way to get your house burned down even if they're not all going to be on at once. Just be intelligent about it, learn a little about the capacity of the circuit you're using, and you'll be safe.

I have seen thousands of computers in my time and only seen one actually catch fire. The odds of that happening under normal circumstances are pretty low.

Not yet, but the fan on the power supply of my home PC is shot, so it gets really hot really quickly. I need to get it fixed, and quick-like.

I have lots of stuff wired up, but no worries on a catasrophe.

I ahve always been scared of my room burning down, so I keep a fire extinguisher there, just for safety purposes.

I've had two systems catch fire, one PC cause the internal fan went out nad it fried the whole system, and one pirate Famicom, probably cause I was using the wrong power supply. I run 20+ things off of one outlet, but almost none of it is on simultaneously, and I don't worry about fires.

    Time Warp!

The only thing that wories me is the big brick power plugs for earlier systems, like the nes and Gen. Why do they allways run hot? Anyone ever have a problem with these things going up in flames?

Well, just my Jag. And that was with using a SNES power supply. Which, I have since learned is a really dumb idea. It got all smokey, but no actual flames. Speaking of which, anybody know if any other power supplies work on the Jag? I realize this one is shot, but I might find another without the cords.

I've had some arcade stuff burn up, I guess I wouldn't say "catch fire", as it put itself out, but there was fire. The most common one is the G08 color vector monitor, that thing burns by looking at it wrong .

This morning i went into my gameroom to check my email on the computer and I noticed a burning wire smell. I spend anout 30 mins unpluging systems and things. I finally realized it was a small desk fan that had seized and was still on. The motor at the back was very hot.

The only 2 times I've ever game close to a fire was from fans. The above mentioned and when my computer power supply fan went out causing the whole thing to heat up. In both cases I've only smelt burning wire. No fire.

Not caught on fire, but my old graphics card on this PC melted. It was a pretty decent card, but the manufactorer of it was known to be very, very shitty, and there were hundreds of examples of the same thing happening.

I had a computer monitor start smoking on me. I unplugged that thing and tossed it.

It was gonna die of lung cancer anyway.
