a portable PSX for around $50 -75 would be nice. The PSOne is still to big and cost alot for the screen + system.
This is the last year
Next year, 2003 will be the last year
Give it another couple of years 2004
Around the time of the planned PS3 release 2005
As long as people keep buying the game there is no end in sight 2006+
What do I care. All I collect is NES

the thing is, they're ONLY 10 bucks, so you're NOT gonna get freakin' final fantasy whatever. you will get a generally well-crafted, playable 10 dollar game experience with these:
ford racing (once you get past the slow-ass mini cars at the beginning!)*
grand theft auto*
grand theft auto 2*
ball breakers*
pipe dreams 3D*
crossroad crisis
grudge warriors*
board game top shop*
battle hunter*
eternal eyes*
blaster master: blasting again*
shooter space shot
shooter sanvien*
action bass*
creatures*
gunfighter: the legend of jesse james*
spec ops (series- play them with 2 players for maximum enjoyment)*
pro pinball: big race usa*
tennis
speedball 2100*
the italian job*
rainbow six: lone wolf
all-star slammin d-ball (NO it's not a porn game, lol! dodgeball!)
ihra drag racing
martian gothic*
rageball
card games
chess
worms world party*
burstrick! wake boarding
racing
hooters road trip (for pure kitsch value )*
no one can stop mr. domino (overstock reissue)*
saltwater sport fishing*
sno cross championship racing*
polaris sno-cross
spin jam*
v.i.p.
vanark*
40 winks*
kingsley*
there are a load more- that's just what i can recall off the top of my head...=^P
Hey geelw- what does the (*) denote in your list? I've seen most of those at a local retailer- I got Mr. Domino a few weeks ago & RC Helicopter today. I'll probably get a fishing game next. Most of the games are worth their low price- who doesn't have $10 to blow on a game? BTW, if you want a confusing yet challenging ResEvil clone, get Martian Gothic- it drove me NUTS!!!
Also, I hope Sony doesn't pull a Nintendo & make the PS1 different colors like "sunrise", "frostbite", "vomit", etc. That's just sad IMHO.
"The big things that...nerds like to argue about might not actually matter that much."
* means i played these and found them not bad at all- i forgot to put that at the bottom of my list!
martian gothic made me nuts- it works as a good adventure game, though...
darkstone is the deepest $10 game on the list- run it on a ps2 with the smoothing and disc speed turned on for maximum effect!
grudge warriors come highly recommended, as the manual doesn't tell you really fun stuff you can do. that, and it's a bit like red dog on the dreamcast (as far as the single-player game goes)..=^P
Anyone know if "Toobin" on Arcade Party Pak is worthwhile? The Funco guy said it'd run on PS2- WRONG!!! All the other games did though- but I bought it for Toobin! GRRR!!! (I didn't have my PSX handy)
geelw- you're right about DarkStone being deep- good Diablo clone w/ random dungeon goodness, multiple quests & 8 different characters! Is beating Draak as hard as it seems?

Toobin' on APP (Arcade Party Pak, not the Alan Parsons Project) is pretty good. Not arcade-perfect, but it's at least as good as playing it on MAME.
I picked up another one today that was new on me: "Builder's Block." Looks like an interesting take on a Tetris / Klax / High Rise-style puzzle block game, and it's got a split-screen two player mode - all for only ten bucks. It's got a 2000 copyright on it (with an original date of 1998 attributed to Taito, so I'm assuming this is probably a localization of a Japanese title), but I've never seen or heard of it before. Looks kinda fun, actually.
@PDF: Nice find! Builder's Block (aka Taito's "Landmaker") is an awesome puzzle game and one of the tougher PSX titles to track down. I think you'll enjoy it!
Selling collection, Atari through XBox. Send a PM with whatever games you're looking for.
If companies keep producing cool games like Sheep and Sheep Raider (Wile E. Coyote game), the PSX will be around a long time! (Like the 2600.) I predict PSX will die when PS3 is released.

Here in Argentina...NEVER!, because here is the kingdom of Playstation CD copies and hacks...so, the economical situation is bad and everybody prefers to buy copies instead of originals (not me, obviously) >)
Here comes an old topic:
I think the end must be near as game stores are attempting to clear out any ps1 stock. Are new PS1 games still being made?
Just when you thought the end was near for the old PSX, we get:
True. But what about the aging Neo Geo AES/MVS It's been like 14 years, and it's finally called it quits. Tho it put out some of the best fighters ever.Originally Posted by Buyatari

Digging up an old thread...So what was the last game released for this system?
Fifa 2005?
Were there any overseas games made after this one?
Yes, in Europe. It was Duel Masters: Senpai Legends! released in September 2006. This was the absolute last release, coming two years after Japan and North America had their last games for the system.
Funny that this thread comes up now, North America will get the absolute last PS2 game, MLB 2K12 in March 2012. Makes me wonder how long that Wii games will be in production, and how long it will take them to clear out stock.
I remember seeing PS1 games at Wal-Mart early last year, that was the first time in years I had seen them, probably since 2005 or so.

I went to the mall and snagged a sealed copy of Final Fantasy Origins for the PS1 from F.Y.E about a year ago.
It was literally the only PS1 game in the whole mall and probably a 25 mile radius.
Oh, and the craziest thing was, it was black label and published by Square Enix, not Square Soft.
Ive seen Greatest Hits copies that say Square Enix, but not black label copies.
I'm assuming this game came out before Square Soft merged with Enix, and the GH version came out after. The merger was going on around the time this game released in the states.
Does anyone elses black label copy say Square Enix on it? I sure as hell cant find any others online.
