    Doubtful.

This is how I learned about the name. Hell for years I thought the games were related to the movie.

I bought Delta Force for PC, thinking it was somewhat resembling the movie. Wrong, it was extraordinarily boring.

It's really not that simple. There is a vast difference between filing for and being granted a trademark and actually enforcing that trademark. Trademarks are not like a copyright. They are designed to protect the public from confusion as to the origin of something, not to prevent everyone else from using a particular word or phrase.

Well, I'm not a lawyer but if that's the case then it sounds to me as if Trademarks are basically pointless if they can't be enforced.

Not at all, but like most things in law, there is often a grey area that is designed to protect the interest of the one side in creating and maintaining a vibrant brand and the other side in innovating and bringing new ideas to the marketplace.

Without Chuck Norris, there is not Delta Force!

The movie intro was used brilliantly for the opening intro of the Indy 500 for years.
