    Default Attention Genesis Collectors!

Hello everyone, I've been a huge video game guy for many years, and I'm mostly into Genesis.
I scour ebay and flea markets for games every day, It's a passion of mine.

I signed up here just to possibly help out other big genesis collectors, those who shop on Ebay specifically.
If your well versed in Genesis, you'd know about a game called MUSHA, which is one of the most expensive genesis games.
With cartridges prices between 120-150, you can imagine what the complete ones cost.

So here's my problem, there's a guy on there (User ID "RiteApproach) who is constantly selling fake MUSHA boxes, I know this because I've been watching him sell several a week, always saying "(Last one!!!)" in the item description. He's making over 40 dollars profit out of each one and it bugs the hell out of me, I just had to tell someone. There's no way one guy can have several MUSHA boxes just laying around, the game is rare enough. I did all I could do and report the item as counterfeit, but alone I don't think I can make a change.

If there's enough reports of the item being fake, perhaps ebay can prevent him from listing them in this way again.
I hope this is thread worthy, thank you for your time.

Assuming you're right and they're fake, it seems he's doing the same thing with Alien Soldier cases.

Heres the link to his actual listing. He constantly relists after one sells, and says "last one!!!".

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSHA-Metall...item46051e9a8f

If you filter your search results for "Sega Musha" with Completed Listings only, you'll find 3, and that's within the last 7 days alone, all stating "last one!!!"

    God, I hate that!

Well the Alien Soldier boxes are obviously repros since that game never came out in North America. I ought to know, I made that cover lol. The dude should really tell people that these are replacement boxes that he made. People would still buy them and it would be honest this way.

Yeah I don't mind the replacement cases so much, it's obvious that the games a repro. But when it comes to Musha, He shouldn't lie and say they are authentic. I've been watching him sell those suckers for months.

It's going to change the value of them, the REAL ones. He could at least print "reproduction" on the inside of the artwork, but I doubt he would.

Can you claim copyright or anything on it through ebay? That's messed up.

    Well, in his defense:

You are bidding on a Genuine/Authentic MUSHA (Metallic Uniframe Super Hybrid Armor) Game Case

The case is authentic, the insert probably isn't. It's a technicality and a shitty way to categorize it but that's why you always have to read the fine print on eBay.

I don't think he could copyright it in the first place, since the game and characters/art are already technically copyright their original makers.

Keep in mind that not every one who buys things leaves feedback. I'm seeing 3 sold since june 17th, plus the some of the ones he has feedback for.

It's possible that he has a warehouse of old MUSHA cases, but pretty unlikely.

    Here's what I did:
    -Report Item
    -Copyright and Trademark
    -Counterfeit item or authenticity disclaimer
    -Counterfeit, fake, or replica item

There's been someone selling Crusader of Centy cases as well, but at least they put them in UGCs and advertise them as replicas.

Heck, there was a guy selling replacement 32X cases, advertising he could get you one for any game you needed, that I could tell were from The Cover Project. When I asked him if he had World Series Baseball with Deion Sanders (not in the TCP archive, I need to get you a scan DJshok!) he just responded with some gibberish trying to skirt his false claims.

There's sadly not much you can do except to be an educated buyer.

if you are that pissed about it you need to call ebay directly and report all his items, filling out their online report does nothing. calling them they look at the items immediately and take action.

Pretty lame that this guy doesnt mention they are actual replacements. that MUSHA insert looks like it was printed on computer paper.

Let's be realistic; there is no way to prove these are not authentic just by the auction. You can't disprove that just by the listing and eBay knows that. The only way you can prove it is to buy one of the cases yourself, and even then eBay would require a third party opinion before acting on it. I ain't saying that's right, but that's how it operates.

And IMO anyone who pays for something that you can easily print off for virtually pennies has more money than sense.

Pretty much. This is one of those "live and let live" situations. Not like it's your money being wasted on reproduction inserts.

glad we could help and nice to see another person from NJ here!

Does anyone think the constant selling of the game cases with repro inset could hurt the price of MUSHA as a collector and its prices?

Of course It can, when boxed prices drop because there's too many of them. On the other hand, perhaps the authentic ones will be even more sought after..
