Default Just bought a 3DO... now what?

So I indulged my curiosity this weekend and finally bought myself a Panasonic 3DO (FZ-10/top loader). Paid more than I hoped to ($85 for the system, 1 controller, and FIFA, PGA '96, and some lame-looking golf/baseball instructional video discs), but now I can experience all it has to offer!
...which, so far, seems like a lot of early-to-mid-nineties PC game ports and FMV adventures. Anybody on here have any personal recommendations? I'm excited to have a console version of Alone in the Dark 1 (and a little sad it never saw a port of 7th Guest), but other than that I haven't had much time to play around with it.

I've owned a 3DO since they were still releasing games for the system. I read some of the threads that were linked in this thread and found them to be pretty accurate. Enjoy your 3DO, there are some good games to be played on there.

I have a 3DO and rarely play it, but back when it was new a friend had one and I have very fond memories of Star Control 2, specifically the 1 vs 1 Melee game, though I'm sure the main game is good, too. I played it on PC.

Return Fire I remember getting some deserved attention as well.

    Throw it in a closet.

JK, buy SSF2T, a couple of 6-button controllers, play it for a couple of hours, THEN throw it into a closet.

Aside from the obvious SSF2T port, there also is a nice version of the original Bust-A-Move on the 3DO. It has one of my favorite versions of Wolfenstein 3D due to its orchestrated soundtrack and upgraded graphics. Star Fighter is a must play if you like Starfox/Rogue Leader style air combat games. I will also admit that I've always had a soft spot for the Shockwave games, though mileage may vary.

The 3DO is actually a decent system with a surprising amount of quality games in its library. It is certainly no CD-i. I'd say it's about on par with the Jaguar, though the latter may have the edge due to T2k alone.

Man I remembered this one friends of mine in elementary school that had one of these.

It was one of the many "sorry we're divorced now, we both love you, make up for it with tons of useless stuff" gifts his parents showered him with for quite a while. I remember playing Gex on it for maybe an hour before we got bored and broke out the military micro machines or legos or something. That original model though did look really slick at the time and made a nice first impression...just unfortunate that we got tired of it so quickly.

KILLING TIME! Awesome game. The framerate stutters, but the game is still killer once you get used to it. Captain Quasar is also a must own. The other games mentioned so far are also tops. Ice Breaker is a very interesting and very unique puzzler as well. D has it's best version on the 3DO. I also concur with the earlier comment on Sewer Shark. Much, much, MUCH better than critics say. The game is easily one of the best FMV games ever made. Road Rash and Need for Speed are also quite awesome on the 3DO. The enhanced graphics in Star Blade are worth seeing as well if you enjoy the game. AD&D Slayer and AD&D Death Keep are worth checking out too. If you like RPG's there is Lucienne's Quest, which is VERY Expensive, or Guardian War, which is actually the prequel to the Saturn Game Mystara (Blazing Heroes). If you want to track down an awesome Survival Horror game for the system only available on the 3DO, check out Doctor Hauzer. It's Japanese, but very playable.

Return Fire is great fun with friends. The 3DO version is the original and in my opinion the best of the releases.

I actually liked Pheonix 3. Part of the game was side scrolling shooting, the other half was wing commander style space combat. It also has cheezy FMV cutscenes in between. Speaking of Wing Commander 3, that version held up pretty well too.

I picked up a Panasonic front loader about a month ago, and have about 16 games so far. Really enjoy Monster Manor as it is a Wolfenstein clone and takes me back to early 90's PC gaming. Also like Gex, Captain Quazar, and Total Eclipse. Best thing I did was buy a Logitech controller to get around the hand cramping Panasonic controller.

You HAVE to "play" all the Vivid games. It's an experience in itself. As for actual games, try Star Wars: Rebel Assault II and Royal Pro Wrestling(a Japanese import) if you like wrestling games. If you don't like wrestling games then don't worry about it since it's the only one avaialble for the system.
