Anyone remember or even played this?
I never even heard it was an arcade game. The Nes version was/is one of my favorites so I'm sad I missed out on it.
You tube videos look pretty good. Dang!

I'm the best there is at what I do. But what I do best isn't very nice. -James "Logan" Howlett
They're really completely different games, sort of like Rygar. Even if the NES version is one of your favorite games, the arcade original is extremely challenging.
Know it? For sure!
It's my #2 favorite arcade game of all time right below my #1 slot Dragon's Lair, and I'm about as expert at it as I am with Dragon's Lair.
After discovering the arcade version in the mid 90s I put enough time and money into regular practice that I can on a good day do a complete run on less than $1.
It's somewhere between Contra and Metal Slug in terms of being a side-scrolling bullet-hell-like action game.
Fantastic stuff IMO and more straightforward "arcadey" fun than the also excellent NES and GB version of the same era, which are a bit slower and more deliberate in terms of fetching necessary items and back-trackng to zones to get to previously un-reachable areas.
You can get arcade perfect ports on Capcom Classics Volume 1 for PS2 and Capcom Classics Remixed for PSP
You'll also find that most of the music from the NES version originated on the arcade version, it has one of my favorite Capcom scores, and a lot of those songs were updated for Bionic Commando Re-Armed for PS3.

I've only know the arcade game. I've never even seen the NES version before. The same Rygar (though I recently played through the PS2 version).
You're missing out, then. Those are fantastic games. You should really check them out.

Yes I had the game on Capcom Classics Collection for I think X-Box years ago, it had all three Ghosts and Goblins and Street Fighter2 the World Warrior on it as well. The Nes version was sweet, too. You could probably download Bionic Commando for mame, no problem.
Just did a quick search...and damn. Those PS2/Xbox/GC-era compilations are getting pricey. Glad I bought them when I did.
CCC is $50 new on Amazon and starts at $100 new on eBay? I remember these getting blown out at Circuit City for $9.xx back in the day. Wow.

My strongest memory of the arcade version of Bionic Commando that I played as a kid on a vacation with the family in Vegas is those damn bees killing the hell out of me. I prefer the NES version, but the arcade is still more than worth playing. I was pleasantly surprised to have my revenge on the bees years later on the PS2 collection of Capcom Classics- and by "revenge" I mean avoid them completely.
