You're sick, alright. Go see a doctor -- quickly! Kidding aside, I've also had the retro-buying bug recently. I've been bidding on ebay quite bit lately.

I pay too much for things when I just want them now. BIN prices on eBay are terrible, but I can justify them as a convenience fee, especially with a truly rare item that I really want.

Other times I don't know what comes over me. I paid $200 for a boxed jaguar at Cge, and I paid $1000 for a donkey kong cab with a potential sound issue.

But when all is said and done, I'm usually quite happy when I get to play the game, and I never really regret buying something. More often I regret passing up on something that was a good deal or particularly hard to find.

That's nothing. I've purchased duplicates of games because I may have got a used game off Ebay and it's described as mint condition with no scratches, only for there to be a light scratch on the game. I own Brigandine Grand Edition. First disc is perfect, but second disc has a couple of light scratches. I'm eventually going to find another copy that's said to be mint condition and swap the best discs to get an actual mint condition copy. I'm not so OCD about cartridge based games, as they can have slight deficiencies on the boxes, although to most people, most of my cardboard box games probably look brand new.

Probably not 'sick in the head', but you may be doing yourself a disservice being impulsive (if you are).

I care more about quality than quantity, and my time is worth something to me, too, still. I have FAR too many games to pay a lot for ones that I'll get too 'when I get to them'. I can wait YEARS to get a deal on something, and ultimately procure the title while getting more game for my money. If it's not something that's difficult to get a hold of, then I don't usually see it as a $50 game so much as 5 $10 games could be purchasing, or 2 $25 dollar games, etc..

Now, I have a tendency to separate monies that I've made selling off duplicates and less desirable games stuff, and use that to justify purchasing high dollar games and merchandise. I see it as trade more than out of pocket cash spent, assuming I'm not in a crunch for money or anything.

If you have a lot of disposable income, Go nuts. If you have other more important things to spend that money on, then you might want to re-evaluate your priorities.

Got an open copy for $10 a month ago (from a flea market reseller to boot. also only had a $20 sticker price) You just gotta be vigilant.

As for overpaying... I've caught myself impulse buying a few things recently for higher sticker prices then I should. But I've really been trying to keep that demon down because I know with enough patience you can find anything for dirt cheap.

Yeah, Ive been watching a ton of videos of late of different people going to flea markets and thrift stores to buy games and buy them for close to nothing. Two buddies went to a garage sale and bought a 2600 and 10 games for $10, brought it into the store to get a power cord and see if itd still work and it worked. One of them asked how much the Symphony cost......The 2600s they sell are $80. Seeesh, but at east most of the games they have for them are $2.

If I had the disposable income I'd be dropping wasteful amounts of money on SNES games right about now.
