Default Rise of the Dragon Won't load on JVC X'Eye?

So after having a copy of Rise of the Dragon sitting around for a couple months I decided to finally play it tonight, only problem is it won't load past the title screen. The disc has no scratches on it and my X'Eye works perfectly with every other Sega CD game I own. Has anyone else had this problem with Rise of the Dragon on an X'Eye? Is the game just not compatible with the system?

Does the disc work on anything else? The BIOS is different from the rest of the Sega made consoles so it wouldn't surprise me.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

Disc booted up and played perfectly on a Model 2 Sega CD, my stepbrother and I tested it on his setup before he sold the game to me a couple months ago. I had also played through this same disc a couple years ago on a Model 2 setup when he had first bought the game. Guess it's just one of those odd compatibility issues like Jurassic Park not working on a CDX.

I tried it out on my X'Eye and it worked fine. I haven't really played any disc games on it so I thought it didn't work when it booted to the CD menu thing, but when I selected 'Game' it started up fine. I started a new game and it went part way into the into where the guy was giving the woman drugs or whatever before I turned it off.

Well that's weird, think it could just be my copy? Whenever my next day off from work is I'll have to try my copy again and see what happens.

So I noticed that there was a tiny smudge or something on the back of the disc, cleaned it off and now the game works fine.

The other day someone had a problem getting this program working on their laptop and they needed the software working for an exam the next day. You'd click on the search button and BAM, the software would lock up so hard you couldn't force the process to close even from the command prompt.

Turns out it was a smudge on the disc. Personal experience says that the X'EYE has a finicky optical system.
