Default Your Favorite Import In Your Collection

Got imports? Be it console or portable, what's your favorite game you own that wasn't a domestic release?

I own Super Genjin 2 (translated to Super Bonk 2) for the Super Famicom, and I'm proud to say that it's my favorite import. The music and graphics are so much like a Saturday morning cartoon in the 80's. The gameplay is much better than any Bonk game before it. It's on this game where Bonk takes drugs, gets struck by lightning (and killed instantly), and manages to transform into a cross dresser in a ballerina skirt. It's that kinda stuff that censors over here wouldn't tolerate, which makes me like the game even more.

What's your favorite import in your possession?

Hmmmmmmmm... I'd have to go with Gleylancer for the Mega Drive (Jp only). Unbelievably well-done classic horizontal shmup with a lot of variety in it. Only bad thing is it's DAMN spendy!

A favorite, how can you pick one game only?!? Man this is a hard one. I'll have to give this some serious thought.

No doubt about it, the Genjin games were pretty crazy. I'm interested in this Super Genjin 2- any suggestions where I could find a copy?

Obvious: Beatmania IIDX. Kicks the ass of the original Beatmania games, and also the asses of every other game I've played. An unbelievablly immersive musical experience. The reason I bought a Japanese PS2. Currently the only games I have for that JPS2. ^_^

Less Obvious: Mario's Super Picross. I loved Mario's Picross. I luuuuved it. And Mario's Super Picross is everything that was, only much bigger. Great game if you can find it.

I don't have many imports, but I suppose I'd have to say Metal Slug for the Saturn. It's great to finally play it somewhere besides mame, and it's damn near arcade perfect, plus with extras.

Hmmm....well, Same Game for the Super Famicom is an interesting puzzle game. Nifty cartridge, too.

I'd have to say Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo. After that would be Radiant Silvergun, Alien Soldier, Ikaruga, and Splatterhouse : Wanpaku Grafitti.

The Culdcept series has to be there (SAT, DC, PS, PS2).

This is one of the best kept secrets, even in the imports, mainly because it requires a significant level of Japanese to play. Basically it is a cross between a collectible card game, sorta like Magic and a board game. 4 players at a time, and the last game had almost 500 cards to play with, and make your own decks. There was a rumor that the PS2 version may come to North America, so keep an eye out for it.

Probally my favourite is my first import:Front Mission SuperFamicom. Great strategy title. A few others(Vixen 357 and Hybrid Front Megadrive) are special cause they were hard to track down. I have a AD&D Dragons of Flame Famicom import coming in that I am really excited about too.

My fave import would be Fire Pro D for the Dreamcast. Awesome, awesome wrestling title.

I was going to say Sammy Shodown II and Ikaruga, but they made their ways across the Pacific

TearRing Saga for PS1. It's a blatant Fire Emblem ripoff.
I go online sometimes, but ... everyone's spelling is really bad, and it's ... depressing.

    Flicky (SG1000).
I'll never understand why this didn't get a Western SMS release - it was released on the SG1000 in about 1984, and given a slight graphical overhaul would have made an excellent SMS game.
Instead it was released for the Mega Drive in '89, and while that's another great version of it, it's a game that is thoroughly 8-bit in nature.

Being in the UK< I buy lot of unreleased PSone games from America... Therefore my favourite Import is probably Brave Fencer Musashi or Persona II...

But, there are certain PAL games which never saw a UK release, so I would have to say Space Channel 5 Part II.

My favourite Japanese game would probably be Ikaruga though for the Dreamcast

Hmm - SC5 Pt 2 didn't get an official UK release, but not long ago you couldn't go two yards without tripping over a copy on ebay (for the PS2, that is). Class game.

I try to import as many Powerful Pro Baseball (Konami, Jap-Only) games as I can so they're my favorite. I have some for the PSX, Saturn, and Gameboy Advance.

Heck I even have a couple for the SNES/SuperFami and I don't own that console

I have no clue what my favorite import is. No clue. Compounding that problem is my need to ask myself "is that a Japanese only game?" in response to this topic; as there's lots of games I've bought multiple region copies for. So scratch off Kage (that's Shadow of the Ninja) and Yuke Yuke! Trouble Makers (Mischief Makers).

I'd bet it isn't Dracula X, though - even though I'm a big fan, the game really does get by on having cutscenes and CD audio; it's hard to compare it with, say, Akumajo Densetsu (CV3j) as that game had less detail in tiles, but the level designs were "better"...yet Dracula X had better ambience.

A couple fun Super Scope games that are import-only are Space Bazooka (Nintendo-make) and Destructive (Bandai I think?)
