I was referring more to the gba kit when i mentioned mods. Very interested in those faceplates, sadly my micro is pink so it wouldn't go well with most of those awesome faceplate designs but i'd still pick a few up as they would make great replacements down the line if i get another micro.

{edit} just seen your new post yay a pink faceplate hehe

Now if only you could mod a gba to make it look like the original beta version that they sadly never released as a real colour

    Ah, gotcha

Well, there's no reason that I couldn't make orange buttons and bumpers. I'd forgotten about how cool the protoype GBA looked.

The hard part would be the start & select as they are rubber, ah to dream of proto hardware hehe.

Are you able to do other clear colours using a stock transparent GBA shell? If it was possible, how much would it cost to comission a clear green GBA with the backlit bright screen mod?

Looking at green something like this.

I would dye the original silicone parts. Luckily they're nearly white, so it should take pretty well to the process (unlike hard, dark plastics that people often try to dye).

I actually just got a commission for a clear green GBA. I'll post pics as soon as I get around to it. The price would likely be $165 shipped in the US, $175 shipped worldwide.

    , thank you!

I just ordered some opaque pigments so I can cast those GBA parts in the orange and teal from the concept units. Gotta make molds for all those dang parts now...

The hardest part will be getting hold of a silver gba shell as it wasnt a common colour.

Have $175 just burning a hole hehe

Aha! Well, I guess it didn't remind me of that due to the simple fact that I have never once in my life owned one of the original GameBoys, sadly. But now I can actually see people wanting that faceplate design.

Well, it might be nice for display purposes, at least.

Chicks dig chrome. Can anyone say chrome micro belt buckle? That'll get you all the ladies (or dudes I suppose).

The original gameboy designed micro faceplate looks really good as does the one that looks like a nes pad, some really great designs to pimp up a micro.

Just a question, how scratch resistant are the faceplates?

They're a softer resin plastic. While that sounds like it might be a bad thing, it's really quite the opposite. They take a LOT of abuse before getting scuffed up. The company that is making them for me uses this process for automotive badges normally. I was really big into the auto tuning scene for years, and sold custom badges as a vendor on a few forums using this same supplier. They make really nice stuff. In fact, I have something really special planned for a Zelda plate that will have something that no other faceplate will have

If they stand the test of time on the front of a Dodge Viper, then our measly thumbs shouldn't be much threat

    Making some more molds today.

    • GBA bumpers and shoulder buttons

    • Gameboy micro A & B buttons

    • SNES power and reset sliders (why not, right? I want clear purple buttons, dammit!)

I like this. My question is, would you be able to do this for PAL carts as well? Because I'd be quite interested in getting a handful of copies of Parallel Worlds, but I live in PAL land.

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure it won't be an issue. We'll just need to hunt down some PAL carts to hack 'n' slash

Sounds sweet! I know of at least three people who'd definitely like a copy, in addition to myself.

Just sorted out the plan for the first batch of repros with my partner. Gonna start off with a limited set of sorts to give you guys a taste of what we're trying to accomplish with the brand. Also, I went ahead and put a FB page up (even though I'm not the biggest FB user). I'll try and keep it packed full of the goofy game crap that I'm working on everyday that's just worth an entire post on the blog.
