clearin' up the sticky mess dept:

there are cho aniki games for the pc-engine cd, saturn, ps one, and ps2, which are straight (well, not so straight, lol) shooters. the sfc game is a fighter, but it plays like a shooter (there's a joke in there somewhere). anyway, that's where max's "non-traditional" comment came about.

if you're interested in an import fighter with questionable sexual references, there are a few that spring to mind, like grappler baki tournament (ps2) and ane-san (pc-engine cd)...

btw, it seems that americans are absolutely in love with these games, given the prices they fetch on ebeg and EGM's ongoing fascination with them. the mag ran what, 3 stories or news items this year about the game (so far)...

So many gay US people ;P

Anyhow, the PC-Engine Cho Aniki looks pretty darn nice graphics-wise, for the backgrounds and such. I don't care to look or even try to remember what the character sprites (and yes, they certainly are spritely...) look like, but you have to admit they're a step above Actraiser.
