Default Jaguar CD Dev Unit - Red Screen

Some time ago, I bought a Jaguar CD Development console. Unfortunately, I was getting the Red Screen of Death.
After trying to get it working for the better part of a week, I gave up on it and just left it on my Jaguar console as decor.

Today, on a whim, I searched around to see if the world had reached a collective singularity to fix the problem.
What I came across was this, a guide to modding the Jaguar CD with a fake dev BIOS: http://rdemming.home.xs4all.nl/Atari/JaguarCD/index.htm
Specifically, the second to last sentence was of interest.

"If you turn on the Jaguar and the screen becomes red, than you have probably set the CD to the developer BIOS but the Jaguar is set to the retail BIOS."

Can anyone confirm that a Jaguar CD Dev unit requires a Jaguar Dev console to function properly?
I want to know before I attempt to mod one of my Jaguar consoles with a Dev BIOS.
If this works, I can finally get my CD unit running.

It wouldn't hurt anything to add a 32pin socket and try the Stub'94 and other Bios. You may want to just
have a couple bios chips around instead of doing the rotary switch mod. I have some extra
1Mb(150ns and slower) chips around if you need a bios or two.

Thanks for the advice, though I actually decided I'd go straight to the experts at AtariAge.
It looks like I'll be putting a hacked BIOS EPROM in the CD unit, while preserving the original BIOS.
After all, replacing a socketed EPROM is much easier than soldering a socket onto a board without one.
