Tecmo's Deception [PlayStation] Disc Variant

I received this in a ps1 lot that I purchased on ebay. The seller had no pictures of the discs in the listing, so I was a bit surprised when I initially opened the case. The disc's label is in monochrome with red lettering. Normally, it is fully colored. You can see a comparison of the two discs in the last photo.

Is this a known variant? Printing error? I've been looking around for info, but haven't come across anything. Perhaps someone could shed some light on this?

Looks like they forgot the color level of the screen. I don't think it's a variant, but a printing error. I'd send a message to Dangerboy. He may be interested in it, if you don't want to keep it around.

i have both versions as well, im also curious about the rarity.

It's a variant - the right one has strokes on the circular text and the NTSC icon is further down. The full color version is the more common one.

Didn't even notice that! I also see now that the uncolored disc has a smaller PlayStation logo with a registered trademark symbol, whereas the full color disc shows a standard trademark.
