    Default wow....bubsy genesis

So I have been a nintendo kid since the NES, never a SEGA person until just now.

I remember playing Bubsy a lot on the SNES. Just got a genesis version and boy what a difference in quality and not in a good way. music and sound are just so inferior to the snes version.

awesome story that made my day

take 2: Sunset Riders, Lethal Enforcers, (possibly) Sparkster (totally different game though). Honestly don't know about Bubsy so it is a good thing we were told, why are you mocking my sincerity?!

take 3: Sonic looks really bad on my SNES for some reason.

Mohawk & <<<< Bubsy Genesis < Bubsy SNES <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Xardion <<<<<.............<<<<< Super Mario World
    Headphone Jack

The difference between Bubsy Gen and SNES is not so great when you put it in relative terms.

What do you mean by Headphone Jack?

Now I'm really confused. This is getting interesting!

Mohawk is pretty cool, I'll not let some shit game take down the pride of my people. (Maybe I should game more because the only thing in that post I recognized was SMW, and I haven't even played that one.) Edit: Xardion looks neat. Doubt it's as good as Psycho-Nics Oscar or Hagane but I'll give it a shot.

Am I the only person here who honestly likes Bubsy?

Seriously. The first game was good. Not Contra or Konami Tiny Toons good, but hardly the crapfest everyone makes it out to be.

    (The second one, though... *shudder*)

Okay, if I have to explain the joke(s), I guess I will..

Mohawk & Headphone Jack is a legendarily bad SNES platformer by TH・Q/Black Pearl. Funny trivia is that one of the EGM staffers, Martin Alessi, contributed to the game, as EGM's offices were in the same building as the developers'. Anyway, it attempts to be a mode-7 showcase, but it's shit anyway.

Xardion is an uninspiring run-of-the-mill (crap-ish) robot platformer, but it's still 21 notches above Bubsy.

I think if a game is on both the SNES and GENESIS you should go for the SNES version. The sound alone is the reason. I can play Street Fighter 2 with the L and R buttons on the front of the controller, which some people hate, and I can throw a hadouken with its d pad like I can on the Gen controller.

Ah, you had "headphone jack" on another line so I wasn't sure if it was all supposed to be one thing.

Xardion...yeah, I tried it out a bit...it's no Super Turrican, certainly no Run Saber. (And Run Saber could've been considerably better with some appropriate difficulty...)

People must have more sensitive ears than I do. Bubsy only sounds slightly different to me, and SFII... well okay, its been years since I've played the SNES versions, but it doesn't sound noticably worse than the Saturn or PS2 versions to me.

There were, IMO, a few games that sounded better on Genesis. Aero the Acrobat for one (though this mainly because some levels had different music between versions, and I felt the Genesis was more appropriate).

Dhalsims stage is completely unlistenable. The graphics are debatable as to which is better, the Genesis is lighter and has less tone though.

Both sound awful compared to CPS1.
I wouldn't make a blanket recommendation to buy the SNES version of a game instead of the Genesis version, because in many cases, the games are very different. Just look at Aladdin or Fatal Fury.

It depends on the game. Try playing Mickey Mania on either system, the SNES version is the worst version of the game on any console. Even the sound is worse on the SNES than Genesis with that game. Other games seem to control better on the Genesis than the SNES, if the sound is better but it plays worse I'd rather have the better playing version.

That's a great game man, the sequel to DJ Boy III: Wolfman Jack Attack, what are you talking about?

Isn't Bubsy generally avoided for both systems?

I thought the Genesis version of FF was terrible, and the SNES version of Aladdin is a different game than the Genesis one so you cant compare them really.

I havent played Mickey Mania. And I played more PS1 than SNES or Genesis, so the whole buttons on the front of a controller isnt a weird thing to me. The 6 button controller is very good though, but Im okay with the strong attacks being away from the weaker ones on the pad.

Terrible in comparison to the SNES port?

Even as a nostalgic SNK fanboy I can't force myself to get any enjoyment out of the SNES version. Horribly unresponsive controls, only 3 characters for 1p to select from, and loading times?!?

You forgot the part where they removed an entire gameplay mechanic; the SNES version of Fatal Fury doesn't even have plane switching.

I didnt like the way the characters looked when theyd go to the background. So, that was kind of an improvement. Even Garou Mark of The Wolves didnt do that. That game kicks ass. FF Special is good though and has the different plains.

Ok, edit, Im playing both and yeah......stay away from FF, just go with FF Special.
