Gamestop makes things even worse by allowing employees to borrow these games - once another person has taken the disc home and played the game on their console, then the game is no longer new, regardless of what Gamestop says.
Personally, an open box game for something I'm intending to play anyway isn't a big deal, but opening up games and allowing employees to play them definitely crosses the line into 'no longer new' for me, and the resulting game should be discounted accordingly.
