    Default Namco Museum Encore?

So I did a few searches for this collection and discovered there's both a regular release and a "limited edition." (Both show up on Amazon.com)

Does anyone know what the difference between the two is?

    Thanks.

From my fading memory, the limited edition comes in a large (quadruple LP-style) box with something extra inside (commemorative book?)

The limited edition of Namco Museum Encore (exclusive from Japan market) includes the outerbox Namco Games Chronicle. This outerbox includes a memory card and a flyer.

Old topic, but I was recently looking at this exact thing again and I found out some new info.

Apparently, some people selling this "limited edition" sell it as a box set containing all six "Namco Museum" releases (Japanese editions).

What I can't determine is whether this was *always* a box set, or whether the case simply came with slots for the other volumes and people just filled out their collections. Play-Asia's listing makes it sound like the former, but I doubt it.

Incidentally, for anyone looking to collect Namco Museum, the Japanese version of Volume 2 contains two games (Bomb Bee and Cutie Q) which aren't on the US version (which replaces those two with Super Pac-Man).

I remember speaking to someone way in the past who had the display case and all six games. From what I recall, he said the box came with ENCORE when he bought it, and had the gaps to put the other five entries into it, as Kazuya said.

I've seen a lot if anime series released this way, with a final volume that includes a case to hold previous purchases. Wouldn't surprise me to see a Japanese game follow the trend. But considering how big you (OP) are into cartoons/anime I'm sure this isn't news to you.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of anime that do what you describe. Never quite understood it myself.

I think I'll save up my money and get a complete set. Believe it or not, Volume 2 has two games ("Bomb Bee" and "Cutie Q") that aren't on the North American version (NA instead got "Super Pac-Man") so if you're super-completist you need both versions of Volume 2... personally though, Volume 5 has Pac-Mania, which is pretty much the last Pac-Man we needed.

    This.

These were plentiful on eBay brand new in the early 2000s. Many are sunfaded though. Something about the material the box is made out of just fades really easily apparently. The package has an Outer Backing Insert sort-of thing which wraps around the package so there will be a two toned effect from the fading compared to the covered area. Good luck finding one that didn't suffer this.

Since you mention Volume 2 and the inclusion of Bomb Bee and Cutie-Q, be aware that there is a "Special Box" set which includes the rotary "volume" controller and cardboard stand-up graphic figures and artwork.
